Guest guest
The following is from Joe, who usu lurks here. the link is quite a good one but I am fwding it reluctantly because in my experience those who are most likely to make use of it to denounce others will be those who are actually the principal offenders regarding the " Verbal terrorism " it describes. There is poster on add_med, also of many other places, who is fond of giving the Latin names for supposed fallacies those he disagrees with make, who in fact makes a great many of them himself. As I said to him recently, discussing something with him is likely trying to swim in treacle. Similarly, when this same link was posted to freedomfomind some time back its contents were cited by one of the worst verbal terrorists on that list as supposed behavior by the more reasonable ppl she argued with (and no, I am not referring to arguments she had with me). I wouldnt be surprised if the two " heavy duty Xtians " who maintain the site are themselves frequent offenders, and I expect also ppl will sieze on superficial similarities with examples given in it as supposed proof that someone else has committed the kind of 'verbal terrorism' the particular example is of. For example, the fact that I said to Steve something beginning with " How dare you accuse me of... " does not mean I was using the tactic illustrated by an example beginning " How DARE you... " in the link. Anyway, here is Joe's post: >I get the digest version of 12-step free, but I have not posted as of >this writing. > >Anyway, give some of the snippinesss that has been going on as of late >I thought I would forward this >URL > >The page is on a site by two, fairly heavy duty Christians, but the >page is decidely objective. It is called Conversational Terrorism.
