Guest guest
I have been reading everyones posts. I take a long hot shower to help me. My back muscles and shoulders are twisted and tight always. I know my hips and shoulders have RA, so my muscles turn to stone to protect those joints. What I wouldnt give for an indoor hottub. I was doing aqua therapy in a warm pool, but Id get out of the pool and the cold air would just undo the good I did. That was almost ten years ago when I first became ill. Now, I have a deathly fear of needles, Eat a very healthy diet, and still am on a swift cocktail Minus Heavy Opiates. I have abdomenal adhesions and nothing worse for the intestines that opiates. I take a tiny bit and I do mean tiny bit of darvocet, and rely mostly on Ativan and Soma to relax my muscles. My muscles are withered from a combination of meds and thyroid problems due to the RA. I am only 90 pounds on a good day. I look like a vapid chicken just escaped from the Soup Pot.........LOL but I love that hot soup pot. Id stay in there all day if i could. Guest guest
Skye, I'm very sorry.........I do hope the accupuncture can bring you relief. How has this affected your speaking, as if not being able to chew isn't bad enough. I hope you are so called cured.Anything that eases or makes our bodies healthier is good.I am on a Strict Ligiud diet due to major Jaw problems so if I cannot drink it.It doesn't go in my mouth.......Skye> I was fortunate, although I was warned I may lose my fingers within a year due to inflamation and no blood circulation, I didn't have significant joint damage. I had nerve damage in my elows, but that seems to have recovered. I can't say that I'm 100% pain free because on occassion things happen. I always know exactly why I have pain (brought on by myself) though and it's limited to 2 fingers and one wrist. Never to a point where I can't do things or need to medicate. In fact I don't even have any backup meds in my house anymore, haven't now for 18 months.> > For a while I thought it was remission and this was frightening because if it's just remission then any day the incredible pain could return. I now believe that my body is just healthier, immune system in check, mental attitude corrected enough for me to live without this disease attacking. With that in mind, I expect to continue living mostly pain free and without limitations.......This spring will tell if I'm just imagining the no limitations, I have 1 acre in lawns and gardens that until this year I let go.....since Feb. I've been working to bring it all back, it's seems I will be successful, if the weather allows. That means I'm working long days doing hard physical labor on the nice days. I have what doctors called a most aggressive form of RA and I was ready to buy a wheelchair, it was so bad when I discovered the benefits of adding a quality nutritional to my diet. I chose Limu Plus as the complete nutritional for me because it's liquid and pills tend to give me heartburn.......With this I was able to get off the medications and I live a life without limitations or pain. I have since improved my diet and began meditation to a holosync cd, the combination has worked very well. > > > > I'm more than happy to share with anyone things I learned about diet that seem to negatively effect our joints.> > > > Dorey> > www.LivingWithRheumatoidArthritis.com> > ----- Original Message ----- > > From: gonzo_skye > > Rheumatoid Arthritis > > Sent: Thursday, April 07, 2005 4:24 PM> > Subject: what works....> > > > > G'Day my fellow pain pals..I look at it this way..The only thing that > helps...is opiates..lots of opiates..this may sound crass, however,it > is the truth. Those people on the cover of Arthritis Today..where did > they come from? Guest guest
I used to take a hot bath or hot shower to loosen up my joints. Last month we bought a hot tub and it makes all the difference on my joints. I don't know about other states, but in FL if you get a paper from the hot tub place to your dr prescribing you a SPA, you can have the tax amount taken off of the total price. It saved us about $250. on the total. Well worth it! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Maggie http://www.4HockeyFans.com http://www.4FloridaHockey.com MSN: Maggies1429 AOL: Maggies85 -----Original Message-----From: dbargad@... Guest guest
Hi Maggie, so how much are you using the hot tub, and, do you find that you turn the jets on everytime? I'm getting a hottub this year, for sure, I've been getting the hot tub for 2 years now but always my kids come up with a need........like a motorcycle or a Go Kart that eats up the hot tub money. The reason I ask about the jets is that many of my friends suggest it's not important to get alot of powerful jets since they seldom even have the jets on. I'm using you for market research......lol, I have this dream of creating a wonderful atmosphere surrounding the hot tub, a beautiful covered deck where the dogs can't go with the hot tub off one side and my huge back yard with flowers all around so that it's a peaceful haven to relax in. The less I have to spend on the hot tub the more I have to spend on the peaceful haven I want to create. I'm very interested in your reply. Guest guest
Hi We bought this spa: http://www.izzispa.com/spa_trio.htm the silver edition. I figured, why buy one too big when it's just my husband, son and I at home. Glad we bought the 3 person one because rarely is there more than one person in it at a time. We had it custom made with a fountain and led lights that change colors. r flThe fountain isn't big or nothing, just a slot where water flows out and makes a fountain sound. It's soothing to me. I do use the jets most of the time, they feel good on my back and shoulders. We bought the hot tub with the jets that came in the package, did not add any more to it. We have plants and I light a candle. Love it! I was able to insist on my hot tub since my husband and son bought old Chevelle's to work on LOL. Before they got any car parts, I had to have my hot tub. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Maggie http://www.4HockeyFans.com http://www.4FloridaHockey.com MSN: Maggies1429 AOL: Maggies85 -----Original Message-----From: Dorey [mailto:ddorey@...]Sent: Friday, April 08, 2005 1:37 PMRheumatoid Arthritis Subject: Re: Re: what works.... Guest guest
Hi Maggie.......lol, I need some training. When I was a child we didn't have much money but we lived on acreage and my father had the belief that if he supplied the kids with things to do at home there would be less trouble. Because of this belief, I had horses, the boys had motorcycles and we played at home. Now I'm raising boys and I just can't deny them the same luxuries I had. We are financially better off than my parents were so how could I possibly deny them. BUT, the hot tub is coming....lol........I told them, nothing comes before the hot tub and deck now. Now off to view your hot tub.
