Guest guest
Hi all- I have discovered the agony of small needles and the Nirvana of big needles and novelty yarns. Size 15 and up. Either knitting looms like knifty knitters (come in a set of four small to large) and range in plastic, wood, and nylon pegs. If anyone is interested in trying knitting looms check out www.kniftyknitters or www.oldfashionedknittingboard.com I have been using size 8 plastic needles and I just cant stand the burning stabbing pain in my fingers and palms so I use those self adhering bandages and mummify my digits and I can knit on big needles. Just simple things, and I have used knitting looms to make wonderful hats, scarves and more. They are a great craft for people with arthritis. Anyway, that is my two cents. Everyone have a great day. Guest guest
I too have taken up knitting after about 25 years or so. Using big needles and only doing it for an hour or so at a time seems to be the trick. With big needles and double or triple strands of yarn you can make great afgans and baby blankets, as well as scarfs. It feels great to have some kind of craft that I can do! I used to do counted cross stitch, but my fingers just won't let me do that anymore. Beth > Hi all- I have discovered the agony of small needles and the Nirvana of big > needles and novelty yarns. Guest guest
I have several skeins of yarn and crochet needles at the ready.. I crocket when I really start getting wound up. BUT, since following directions is not possible for me, I produce yards of stuff with no purpose other than to unravel and play with another time. And, so it goes with a scrambled brain.... mjh In a message dated 2/26/06 11:10:31 A.M. Eastern Standard Time, orchidwish@... writes: Interesting Judith and knit! Me, too! I love color and creativity and that is one thing I too can do lying or reclining on my back. For a while I had real trouble counting beyond 7, but with dividing large areas up into smaller areas with markers when I need to count stitches, I am able to do it. I can't recommend it enough for people who want to feel that they are doing something, creating something, accomplishing something, etc., and just can't work upright for more than a few minutes at a time. When I am able to, I teach small classes in knitting at a local shop. If you are interested, here is the address of a site for pictures of some things I have knitted. _ Photos - Knitting Pictures_ (http://pg.photos./ph/m111045/album?.dir=d043 & .src=ph & store= & prodid= & .d\ one=http://photos./ph//my_phot'>http://photos./ph//my_phot os) _http://pg.photos./ph/m111045/album?.dir=d043 & .src=ph & store= & prodid= & ..done=http%3a//photos./ph//my_photos_ (http://pg.photos./ph/m111045/album?.dir=d043 & .src=ph & store= & prodid= & .d\ one=http://photos./p h//my_photos) Take care, Maxine
