Holtorf has two clinics, Torrance CA & City, CA. Posts on this group

indicate patients do not always get to see Dr. Holtorf, and the doctor you DO

get to see may or may not be such a great one. (See message #34743.)

Dr. Holtorf does not see patients anymore.  I did see Dr. Shah back in Sept 07. She is not there anymore.

I called Holtorf clinic just this week

To see if I can have another DR look over

My lab work sort of like a second

Opinion because I feel like my dr at

Holtorf  has to be missing something.

The answer I got was I would have to

Fly down and be seen as a new pt

With a new dr.  In essence start all

Kem, If you want the name of a Nurse Practitioner with a hormoone practice in

Eugene who has limited knowledge of RT3 but will probably be willing to work

with you, email me privately.

While we're on the subject of Dr. Holtorf, I just have to say that I have mixed

feelings about him and his clinic. I went to it about 2 1/2 yrs ago and since I

did not have the $400 or $450 to see him, I saw his NP, Pam, instead. I was

pregnant and thought going to him was going to be the answer to my problems but

aside from running the correct test and identifying a rT3 problem, that is ALL

that they did for me. At one point, Dr. Holtorf even came in the room and

talked to me and did some kind of grip strength test to determine how hypo I was

but other than they he/they prescribed nothing for me. I had really hoped he

would give me the SR T3 that the clinic is known for and some cortisone but he

didn't. I don't know why he couldn't have given me the SR T3 but he didn't want

to give me the cortisone because I was pregnant. Out of all the doctors, I

would have thought this one would recognize the need for cortisone in pregnancy.

So here I am now, many years later, still with adrenal fatigue and still with a

rT3 issue.

They definitely are all about money...I am not saying Dr. Holtorf doesn't have it right, but it seems they really push the supplements and are all about the money....

I emailed Dr. Holtorf's clinic yesterday, to ask about what pharmacies are

carrying his SL T3 formula. Here was the reply:

Hi Alixe,

The non-profit National Academy of Hypothyroidism has licensed the new formula

to a few pharmacies. He is working closely with a pharmacy, the American

Integrative Pharmacy, to do it and to do some progressive therapies, which will

open soon.
