Guest guest
Hi Dr Theodora Thanks for taking the time to write that informative and extensive reply. I have printed it out, and will make some changes. In the past, I was able to lose weight by eating little and often - lower fat, moderate carb, moderate protein. However, that was before I was on Hydrocortisone. I am only on 10mg of this a day now though and am thinking of reducing this further. If you do regional consultations, that would be good. Or perhaps in the future I will have enough money to be able to travel to your London Office and consult you there, given my hormone problems. Do you think that 10mg HC would affect weight loss, or should it be ok? I realise you have never seen me, but I wondered generally whether the effects of 10mg HC on a persons body would make it much harder to lose weight? Or as I'm on a low dose anyway, should I just wean off completely? If you can answer, I would appreciate that. THanks for your help Chris > > Hello, > > This is mainly for but others with a similar problem might be interested too. > > Obesity is a major stressor too-in fact it can be worse than the stress of dieting. Guest guest
Dear Trish Thanks for your interest in my post. 1)about flaxseeds:flaxseeds have glycosides which can convert in the body to thiocynanates that can inhibit uptake of iodine in the same way as cruciferous vegetables (broccoli etc),but this happens in iodine- depleted diets or individuals and after consuming excessive amounts. Generally it is not good to exclude something beneficial from one's diet unless ,of course,it is not tolerated(that's why I suggested gradual and slow introduction of ground flaxseeds) or there is untreated iodine deficiency. 2)about green tea & fluoride:yes, there is fluoride in green tea,but again you need to consume excessive amounts(in a 2005 study the subject used to drink 17 cups a day of double strength tea)to suffer the consequences.Again ,moderation is the answer to this:up to six cups a day would not be a problem and you can reduce the risk further by avoiding decaf green tea(contains much more) as well as going for high grade loose green tea from young tea buds . If you are still concerned you can drink white tea(much younger shoots)-the younger the shoots the less fluoride they have. generally,I believe in moderation and balance and harmony esp when it comes to food choices.Consuming controlled amounts of something good is better than excluding it from the diet. about ginseng I prefer personally-from personal experience with my patients-Siberian ginseng ,though, panax can be equally good for some people;again ,as you must well know, with adaptogens there is individual variation and what is good for one person might not work for another. My general advice is start LOW and monitor symptoms;many patients with adrenal fatigue cannot tolerate even gentle stimulants such as ginseng if they are at a later stage of the disease and should be discouraged from taking high doses of anything really without proper guidance from an expert in adrenal fatigue as self experimentation sometimes can prolong unduly their misery and ill health! I thank you for giving me the opportunity to say all this !
