Guest guest
How does it work with iron, Val - When taking let's say 100 mg chelated iron, which is the least toxic iron out there, and serum iron moves close to the top range...... When taking 200 mg and serum iron moves above the top range.. When does it become toxic to take iron? Do you have any ideas? I want myself, and others in this group, to feel safe when taking big doses of iron! When I was at 89 mg iron daily, my serum iron was at 26.5 or so, which is ok. The range of serum iron is something like is 5 to 35. I just wonder when it becomes toxic! At which level. 35? Or 45? 55? I understand iron saturation has a lot to do with how much iron the bod let's thru...I plan on taking up to 200 mg of chelated iron in the coming time to get my Ferritin up. I just want to be safe while doing so!Best Wishes to you all on this Satuday evening, in Norway

Guest guest
This link:http://www.labtestsonline.org/understanding/analytes/tibc/test.html- Says that you can have iron poisoning even if Ferritin is normal, but with a high serum iron though, high saturation and low UIBC.When the bodyu has excess iron ist is stored as FERRITIN. Monitoring Ferritin and stopping suipps when it gets toohigh lowering themn and oyu are safe.,
Guest guest
I am supping 250 of iron a day and have had 2 IV's. My doc got a serum iron and TIBC in the midst of all this and TIBC was 354 (250-450), UIBC was 156 (150-375), but serum iron was 198 (40-155) and Iron Saturation 56 (15-55). No ferritin done this time. Does this info help at all or is it just worthless. The serum iron is a little scary. Steve > > When the bodyu has excess iron ist is stored as FERRITIN.
