Guest guest
Sharon, Based on my experience with and such questions, quickly call the CT people and directly ask them. They should be around till 4:30 or 5. If you don't have a direct number, call the general hospital number and explain what you need. I had to do this once and I was 'passed around' to several numbers but did get the answer I need. Tomorrow may be too late. Guest guest
Sindee, Before I could call, Mom had already taken an Immodium. I wasn't quick enough. Thank you for the input. Guest guest
Sharon, As far as taking the immodium it probably depends on what time her CT is scheduled for. All people react differently to barium contrast material. The radiologist will tell you to drink plenty of water after the test to flush out the barium. Some people get very constipated from the barium, myself included. When gets his CT's it takes a couple of depends to just get him out of the lab and about 2 days to get the runs under control. I do know that we schedule ours very early in the morning because they tell us nothing by mouth after midnight. You might just want to call the lab that is doing the test to get a correct awnser. Guest guest
Joyce, Oh,I am so ignorant about what to do. Should I get some Depends to take with us? Mom thought it would make her go, but I thought that was just when it was a barium enema. Sorry to be so clueless. Thank you for the help. Best wishes to you, Sharon > > Mom is scheduled for the CT scan tomorrow and has to drink barium > > before she goes. Guest guest
Sharon, One more thing, you are right the barium is for the contrast. It gives them a more defined look at things. It has nothing to do with cleaning you out. Guest guest
Hi: Sometimes it does work fast, yes it is a contrast,I am not sure about the immodium why not call and ask? Nick used to take 2 lomitils (?) before his scans because you usually drink one the evening before and one two hours and then one hour,it varies. Hes always able to take his b/p med so I don't see that the immodium would hurt, but I always check(i am a nusiance sometimes that way but I believe in the ounce of prevention being worth a pond of cure bit. I am sure you will get a number of responses. best of luck Nick & Jane
