Guest guest
Thanks Nick & Val, I've reposted my lab results with the ranges included. Val, you mentioned cutting my levoxyl dosage in half to start and to increase my ferritin. I'll start by taking the 100 mg a day and increase the following week based on your recommendation. I have read a bit about the iv treatment and it sounds like some people have serious reactions to this. Any thoughts? Also, should I be taking the 15 citomel a day while cutting back on the levoxyl or just not start that yet. Thanks. I have dealt with health issues for the past 15 years and have been searching for answers. I've dealt with chronic fatigue, anxiety, depression, digestive issues and more. For the past year I have been taking levoxyl because I was hypothyroid. I feel like initially it made a difference and gave me a bit more energy and emotional strength...I didn't feel as anxious or emotional. However, I just started seeing a new doctor who told me that my thyroid is still quite out of whack and that I should start taking 15mcg of citomel a day. I did the RT3 ratio and I it looks as if I have reverse t3. I had my ferritin tested and it's very low: 18 ng/mL. I also had an adrenal saliva test done and would love some help understanding it. I have felt that I have adrenal fatigue but I've had several doctors tell me I don't need to take isocort or cortef. Could you help me understand my adrenal test results? The doctor I'm seeing now said that the best way to support my adrenals is to check and see if I'm allergic to cortisol. I took the allergy test and it came back positive so she has recommended taking desensitization drops. Do you recommend this? Do I need to be strengthening my adrenals more before taking citomel? I'm wondering if I should be stopping the t4 cold turkey to clear out the reverse t3 or continuing to take T4 while I work on getting my ferritin levels up. Is that safe to do, are there side effects? My doctor is recommending that I take my t4, 112 mcg along with the 15mcg of citomel a day. I feel like that won't solve the problem though. What would you recommend looking at? Cortisol ng/mL 5.3 @ 9:10 am range 7-10 2.8 @ 1:10 pm midday range 3-6 2.6 @ 7:10 pm evening 2-4 2.6 @ 11:59 pm night < 1.5 Thyroid Reverse t3 253 pg/mL range 90-350 Ferritin 18 ng/mL range 10-291 Triiodothyronine, free, serum 2.1 g/mL range 2-4.4 Thyroxine (t4) free, direct, S 1.24 ng/dL range .82-1.77 TSH 2.37 uIU/mL range .45-4.5 Thanks so much for your help.
