Guest guest
Advice on future testing - what and how Posted by: " Marcy P " marcy_jo@... marcy_jo Tue Feb 23, 2010 8:23 am (PST) Not sure what happened or if I did something wrong so I re-posted. Everything got a little behind for a while with all the colds and a sinus infection, but I think I am ready to start moving in a positive way again. Patience is so difficult when all is going along well and then wham! ...a simple cold can really mess things up. I am finishing off the 7th week of T3 only and would like to write down the test(s) that need to be checked again like Ferritin and any tests that were not checked in the beginning that maybe should have been. This is what I was previously tested before 11/15/09 Free T3 = 207 (230-420) Free T4 = 1.1 (0.8-1.8) TSH = 2.71 (0.40-4.50) Reverse T3 = 33 (11-32) Iron = 113 (40-175) Ferritin = 41 (10-232) Vitamin D =37 Glucose, fasting =73 (65-99) Insulin, serum = <2 (less than 17 uIU/mL). Adrenocorticortrop in Hormone 11 @9am (5-27) Salivary Cortisol and DHEA was done through Genova Diagnostics: 7-9am = 1.05 -reference range = (0.27-1.18 mcg/dL) 11am-1pm = 0.16 - (0.10-0.41 mcg/dL) 3pm-5pm = 0.18 - (0.05-0.27 mcg/dL) 10pm-12am = 0. 24 - (0.03-0.14 mcg/dL) DHEA 7am-9am = 595 (71-640) DHEA: Cortisol Ratio/10,000 = 567 (115-1,188) LH and FSH serums show that I have not begun peri-menapause yet. On 12/18/09 re-tested the following: Free T3...287 pg/dL (230-420) went up a little from 207 Free T4 ..0.9 ng/dL (0.8-1.8) went down a little from 1.1 TSH 2.74 mIU/L(0.40-4. 50) went down a little from 2.71 T3 Reverse 33 ng/dL (11-32) stayed the same Thought that I should check the following and really need your help first: Ferritin -again to see if it is rising at all (just serum test?) B 12 - what exactly should I ask for with this test? Electralyte panel - again what if any specifics should I ask for? Vitamin D Any other advice on what and how would be greatly appreciated. I am trying to know ahead of time so I can plan to stop iron supps. 5 days prior, no T3 the day of test or from lunch the day before, and what about B 12 and electralyte panel?, any special instructions? (no salt maybe and how long?) With much appreciation, Marcy Pearson PS. Just a thought, are the percentages good that most people with RT3 issues once cleared up can do well on natural thyroid or does this lean more to the majority having to stay on T3 forever? I am just thinking ahead of myself.
