Guest guest
I recently read 'When Women Stop Hating Their Bodies'. My goodness, what an eye-opening book. This conservative girl just put it at the top of her 'feminist books I actually love' list :-) Anyway, WWSHTB mentions that a lot of women *feel* thinner when they exercise regularly, even if their weight hasn't changed. Until I read that, I thought I was the only one who felt that way! It's so very strange! But it's also a good example of how we can feel one way when we look another, and how subjective the whole fat/thing thing is anyway. I have been getting a lot of activity lately. I was sick so much this winter that I really wasn't doing anything and my endurance was at a very low point. I don't like the way that makes me feel, so this month I have tried to make time every day for some sort of physical activity. (Ooooh, I feel so much better!) Two days that was 'gardening' and one day I have taken off due to feeling yucky (PMS, thank you), but for the most part I have gone swimming, biking, walking, or something daily. Yesterday and today I noticed that I feel thinner. Now, I don't weigh myself except on Jan 2. Strange rule, but it works for me. This odd feeling makes me want to weigh myself, though. I was explaining this odd feeling, and my resistance to weighing myself, to my 15 year old son and he's completely baffled. It's hilarious! When he exercises, he feels BIGGER! He said, 'When I do push-ups, I can practically feel my arms growing.' Ahhhh, perspective! ~
