Hi Everyone,

I've been having RT3 problems and have been on T3 only since July. I'm taking 50

mcg of RT3, and now a new endo wants me to cut it back gradually to 25 mcgs and

he wants to then add T4.

I was freezing cold. lost a huge amount of my hair, totally exhausted to the

point that all I could do was sit in my chair and continuously fall asleep all

day. I had pains in my shoulders, neck, arms and inside of my knees. I also have

fibromyalgia, and some arthritis, but the pains were different. It wasn't till

my Rheumy tested me for Ft3, Ft4 Rt3 and TSH that the RT3 was finally seen. He

started me on 10 mcg a day divided, and I slowly titrated it up according to how

I felt.

Now I'm really concerned about this new protocol. I don't want to go back into

pain, get cold again, lose more hair (I'll end up bald), become exhausted and

feel horrible all over again.

Any ideas about this? Does this guy sound like he knows what he's talking about?

He has a really good reputation and everyone says he is terrific. The one thing

that bothers me is that he said he didn't want to see RT3 on a new blood test.

Right now, since I've been on the T3 only, it wasn't a big deal I thought, but

as for when he starts the T4, that would be a different story. He had my blood

tested yesterday right after I saw him, and right after I had taken 10 mcg of

the T3, so I don't know how accurate those tests will be. He ordered Ft3, Ft4

and TSH.

Sorry for the long post.

Roni
