Guest guest
Joy, I can only voice my results but it took me two years after WLS to conceive. I lost it 10 weeks into the pregnancy. 2 months later I conceived again and as of today, I again have lost it 10 weeks into the pregnancy. So, conceiving doesn't seem to be my problem but keeping it definitely is. This one has the doctor puzzled because my uterus is a 10 week size but yet, on the ultrasound, there is an odd shaped yolk sac and it's empty and there has been no bleeding at all. I still have tender breasts and frequent urination. Before they do a D & C, they are doing two HCG blood tests four days apart to see if it's declining. If it rises, it's possible that even though I had my last menstrual period on May 30th, that I didn't conceive when I ovulated on June 12th but a later date. She said that my uterus looks like a 6 week pregnancy and not a 10 week but feels like a 10 week. Who knows??? I'm beginning to feel like a genetic mistake though. Debbie Re: false positive ???? Guest guest
Ha Ha, sounds like another here would switch doctors too. Sorry but that would just set me off right quick! false positive ???? Ok, so I take a pregnancy test and it comes up positive (and really quick). My last period was 6/7, and we were trying, so I would have tried around ovulation time. I started feeling like crap, tired, really tired, peeing alot, and very bitchey. Anyway, I call my gyn office to get an appt., they tell me I have to go for blood work, which I do on Saturday. Well as of yesterday, they didn't have the results back yet, and refused to schedule my appt. I explained that I had gotten a positive result, no period since 6-7, and I am leaving on vacation in less than 10 days. I would really like to be seen, get my vitamins in order, before my vacation. If all is correct, I am about 8 weeks pregnant. So the nurse tells me that home pregnancy test are inacurate, and it could have been a false positive. Not I am upset. We were trying for so long, and I really want a baby. All signs feel/and show that I am pregnant. But that nurse just ticked me off. She also told me that I may have to wait until after my vacation for a 1st appt. At that point I may be as far along as almost 11 weeks. I feel I really should be seen before my vacation, as the first trimester is very important. I did have a false negative with my 1st daughter, but never heard of a false/positive result. Please all, give me your insight on this possible false/positive result. Guest guest
Joy, I for one dont mind you talking about TTC here. I think that we should support ALL moms, moms before WLS, after, AND trying in between. Marcy Re: false positive ???? Oh and BTW I already read about the hcg shots.. been TTC for a long going on 11mos now so I'm pretty into lots of stuff now! Seems so sad it was so easy to begin with and now it seems SO hard. Am thinking of starting an OSSG TTC list b/c I don't want to complain to you all.. which is why I'm quiet most of the time! *~Joy~* Lap RNY @ 491lbs 2/26/01 Dr. Bertha town Memorial Hospital Mommy to: 1-9-99 & Saralyn 12-15-

Guest guest
Marcy, Thanks. Unless a miracle happens though this weekend, I don't hold out much hope. And this is a heck of a way to bring in the weekend considering I'm getting married on Saturday. If I didn't have so much money tied up, I would postpone it in a heartbeat but I can't. I'm not sure I'll try again because I just can't handle the heartache that it causes when I lose it. Debbie Re: false positive ???? Debbie, I am SO sorry you are having trouble. Congrats on the wedding, but I know you have a weight on your shoulders too. Please try to hang in there. Things happen for very strange reasons, (I'm sure you are sick of hearing that). I wish you the very best! Try to hang in there. Marcy Re: false positive ???? Debbie, I am SO sorry you are having trouble. Hang in there, there might be an explanation for this one yet! Guest guest
Joy, Ooh! I'll join if you decide to start one. We have been ttc for almost a year now. We recently found out dh is the one with infertility issues. He has a varicocele. We go to the urologist tomorrow. We live in jersey too. Dr. Bertha is a customer of my father-in-law. He sells men's clothing/suits. Dh has talked to him several times at his father's shop about the wls and he has always been very nice and helpful. Dh had wls too but neither one of us had him as our surgeon. I am sorry to hear about your false positives. That must have been very disappointing. Good luck with ttc! I hope you get a true positive very soon. Doreen > In a message dated 8/8/2002 11:48:13 AM Eastern Daylight Time, kiwi@q... > writes: > > > > Joy I ttc for 3 yrs with my first. Guest guest
False positives are VERY VERY VERY VERY rare, I would say this nurse does not know what she is talking about! My doctor told me once the chance a a false positive is about 3000 to 1. When home tests are wrong, it is when they say you are not pg and you are.
