Hi All,I wrote earlier, but I wanted to make a proper introduction. I have been doing IE for about 6 weeks now, and I find it to be very much what I need to do. I have lost about 7 pounds in that time! I am pleasantly surprised as I have been eating french toast, Ice cream sundaes, spaghetti, pizza, hamburgers, tacos... and eating out too! But I do stop when I am full. I also starting walking about 40 minutes, so that has definitely helped. However, I have found it very difficult to stop when I'm full in social situations including BBQs with my family. That happened this weekend. Since I'm losing weight though, and since these don't happen terribly often, I think I might just be willing to let that be OK. But when I get into these social situations and I eat too much, I

start getting afraid, and it triggers my diet mentality. I think for a day or two afterwards that I really need to curb my eating. Then I read the literature and remember that dieting makes me fat - has made me fat, and I have lost weight eating when I'm hungry. Then it becomes a no-brainer again, and I settle back into my IE pattern. I don't like feeling too full. Last night I had heartburn. It just doesn't make me feel as good as IE. Dieting is no fun either so... this is, and will be my way of life. I'm finally done with Weight Watchers!!Rain

Hi, Rain. Congrulations, first of all, in coming in harmony with IE. I can appreciate your conflict regarding eating with others, because eating with others presents problems for me, too. Tonight I had a revelation which I'd like to share with you. I made my dinner and put on my plate the amount of food I thought my stomach would handle comfortably. I put a little too much food on my plate, I wasn't sure about that at first, and I erroneously finished the food on the plate because it was convenient, I was not thinking to put away the few bites left or throw it away (naw -- didn't want to do that, because the food was too good, so I could have put it in the fridge) and because I did not consider deeply the idea to put the food away. I realized that

was a mistake -- once I realized I was full, I should not have eaten any more, no matter how much food is on the plate or how delicious it was. I'm going to work on that, too. :-) Take care, and thanks for your post. Hope we can help one another. and once again, congratulations that you see dieting is not the way you want to go, but recognizing your body signals is where you want to be at. Me, too. :-) Tai
