Guest guest
Did you ever notice how the same letters are in elivil as are in Evil? That is because you also tend to gain a LOT of weight when taking them!! I gained 70 lb. the last time I was put on it.. I will not take it anymore moving the extra weight is hard on my body and on my self esteem since I am not able to exercise like I really want to it has been hard to get those pounds off. I did lose about 30 of them but I was not eating anything but oatmeal and drinking water. This was long before I joined the group here. My doctor was very upset with me when I told him I tossed them into the trash can there he sat at about 400 lb. and I thought hey you are a doctor you should know it is not healthy to be so overweight!! The only thing I noticed while on this was that for a short time I was able to get to sleep quicker but not able to get into a good deep sleep. I am not sure about the other medication that you listed but I am willing to try new things. I have been on Klonopin for a few years and that has been the one thing that I have taken that has really helped I am also on Cyclobenxaprine (generic name) it is a muscle relaxer and the only one that has helped me so far. I only take them at night because that is when I have the most pain. I am also taking pain pills during the day but have found that although they are suppose to make me sleep better they keep me awake. Last night was really rough and I really need one but knew if I took one that I would be up all night and I had gone with my husband to the funeral yesterday and the chairs were very hard and it was an eight hour round trip. Needless to say I needed rest. I do not want to push my beliefs on anyone here but if any of you pray please pray for our church family we have another man who should recover completely from a heart attack and stroke that is in a major depression now and has stopped talking and eating. He is doing this to himself, he feels very hopeless. Also one of our neighbors was taken to the hospital yesterday and almost did not make it, we have not been able to find out which hospital he is in yet. Which is a blessing because my husband is getting really worn out with all of this and had to go and talk to the man who is in the nursing home for therapy that stopped eating and talking. If he had known which hospital he would have gone there also so I think God knows he needs a little break and the man is stable at this time. We have a congration though that have lost many family members and close friends during the past two months and it is hard on all of us. We do have one woman who knows that she is going to die and she got up in front of the church and gave the most positive testimony I have ever heard!! She had just come through a very long battle with cancer and they found that she has a very large growth on her liver, cancer or not she does not have a lot of time left here but she has set her sights on Heaven. I only hope that when it is my time I can have that peace that she has and I know it was a blessing to everyone who heard her speak that morning. Thanks again for all of the support here and I really wish we could all get past some of the negative things that are being posted and try to be more supportive to one another. We are all hurting and all have things in common I hope that we can learn to focus on those things. I know I too can be upset about something but I have had to learn that if I don't like something someone else has written to hit the delete and go on with my life. I have a life such as it is and I want to live it to the fullest. There are a lot of things that we can allow to get between us and our goals but if we can just let go it is so much more helpful and not everyone here is going to agree on everything that is posted and I believe we just have to move on and let go if not for the other person then for ourselves. I don't know about anyone else here but I was told that stress will keep you down. I have taken a long time to get to the point where I can let things go and think about if it will affect my life if it does not then I don't worry about it. I also do not want to force my Christian beliefs on anyone here that is not why we are all here and I hope that no one else will try to force their beliefs on me. We are each different and yet we all have something's in common please lets focus on those things. This list serv has been one of the best things in my life since I found it and have been able to speak openly about my pain and what is going on with my health where I find in the "real" world it is very hard for me to speak about this to others. Mainly I am with people who are members of the church that my husband pastors and since we are here to serve them I have found it difficult to really let them into my world of pain.. My husband is very busy and when I am very ill he gets really upset so I try also not to burden him too much with it or even my daughters. My youngest daughter tends to be more in tune with how I am feeling and that helps. Sometimes she just gives me a hug and says I love you mom. I think that is the best medicine there is!!! If I have offended anyone with this post I apologize. Peace, Sherry The standard treatment for musculoskeletal pain or Fibromyalgia is atricyclic antidepressant. Generally Elivil is used in combination withLibrium a benzodiazipine drug. This combination is also available togetherin a pill called Limbitrol. The dose used is substantially less than thetherapeutic dose for depression. The theory is that the use of these drugsimprove your sleep cycle. I know this works because my wife has been onthis combination for 15 years. The only adverse effect I've seen is it isdifficult for her to get up in the middle of the night if necessary. Donot try these drugs without consulting your Doctor. Elivil will knock youone your ass for days if you take to much. It usually takes a week or twoto get adapt to this therapy.....Ronnie E. rheumatic Happy Christmas and New Year to everyone>>> > Hello group > >> > I see that there are now 506 people in our group and steadily climbing.I> wish> > for you all increased health during the next year and that our web page> and> > support group can help many more people with these diseases. Guest guest
Sherry, I sometimes use an occasional dose of Soma (carisoprodol is the generic) a muscle relaxer, to help me sleep. Works both by making me sleepy and fighting the muscle cramps that seem to hit me more at night. Tell your friend from church that people all over the world have now been asked to pray for him, and perhaps that will help give him hope. Liz G. Guest guest
I also took Elavil for sleep, with a gain of 20 lbs. in 1 1/2 yrs. I have tried for 6 weeks, and did without sleep. Finally, did acpuncture and this sleeping pill which for the first time in along time a woke up alert and ready to go. It is great. If you take Elavil, you better beware. I have not gained that many lbs. may whole life, usually very skinny, and on top of that I have Crohn's disease. Good luck, Di rheumatic Happy Christmas and New Year to everyone>>> > Hello group > >> > I see that there are now 506 people in our group and steadily climbing.I> wish> > for you all increased health during the next year and that our web page> and> > support group can help many more people with these diseases.
