Guest guest
Hi Rain, I took the teleconference course with Tribole. It was very good. Though as you allude to in your note below there are no quick fixes, we all need to do our own work, but having someone support us in the correct way to go about it is important and that is why I find myself here! Even though I have the tools, I need the right type of encouragment. I wish you well in your desire to support others, huge congrats on the work that has already been completed. I totally agree there needs to be a huge social/cultural shift take place. Please feel free to email me. Carolyn > > Hi All, > I wanted to ask Carolyn about her experience in becoming an IE counselor. Did you take the course offered online, or did you do a telecourse, and how was it? I am also interested in doing this. I am a psychotherapist (internship completed, but haven't taken the licensing exam), and during my internship, I worked with families. > However, I know that I want to, NEED to, work with people suffering from food and body image issues, and I think that taking this course would be a good place to start. I think family dynamics are very relevant though, and definitely in my case, family dynamics played a major part (maybe even the only part - or certainly the push that got the ball rolling) in my self loathing around body and food. I have found a lot of recovery from that in my adult life, but it is easily triggered. It's hard to shake childhood experiences - they're deep. Something has come up recently that is triggering it. > I do believe in the IE way of life, not only for personal recovery and happiness, but for social and cultural transformation around our current views on body and food. I feel strongly drawn to working toward bringing this social transformation about. > Rain >
Guest guest
Yes, Carolyn, a huge cultural/social shift has to take place. I agree with that. Thank you for posting it. Guest guest
Rain; I took a 35 CEU course, involving the IE book, and 2 sets of 4 CD's. My work paid for it, so I don't know the cost, but I bet you can contact the authors and find out. As soon as I am done (it have been a long process), I will have some sort of certification to help people deal with this issue. I too am coming up from the bottom on this issue, and want to reach out to others.
