Funny you should mention apples. They seem to be one of the 'love-hate' items of

dieting and IE too. Long associated with 'health' etc. I know I used to enjoy

them but when I really had a choice (IE) I didn't want them. But after a while I

found that I did enjoy them again - for some time, until I'd had enough and

stopped eating them (again).

I find that this is quite normal behavior regarding foods. They are so tasty

when first in season, loose the allure as time passes and can easily become

desirable again after backing off for a while. This has to be nature's balancing

act - variety! A single focus just does not create a nicely rounded life ;-)

have to eat. Our bodies and minds remind us that we have to eat. Writing about

food makes me think about food and eating. sigh. I think SIMPLE magazine had a

piece in it where it said that patients who ate 3 apples a day lost weight. Who

would want to eat 3 apples a day? Maybe that's what's wrong. I don't want to eat

3 apples a day. I don't really want to eat one apple a day, but I could try. But

that would be a diet mentality, wouldn't it? Tai

I like apples with cheddar cheese. It makes if feel indulgent rather than diety, AND there's the added protein and fat to keep me satisfied longer.RainSubject: Re: applesTo: IntuitiveEating_Support Date: Wednesday, July 6, 2011, 7:42 AM

I like it with peanut butter. But I can't have apples or pb now. Fruit and protein is a great snack. Patti

My doctor put me on a low sodium, low oxalate diet. You guys will laugh because whole wheat and spinach and beets are bad for me but I can have wonder bread and vanilla ice cream. See, healthy is relative. ;)Patti

That is funny Patti! I can't eat Peanut butter unless I'm willing to have a breakout of cystic acne. Peanut butter triggers my acne rosacea. Great huh? Chocolate does the same, except the acne is the normal kind instead of the deep painful cysts that peanut butter brings on. Those things are pretty easy for me to avoid now, as you might guess. I'm still allowing myself to eat them but only after I make sure I really want the trade-off. Usually the answer is no. I don't feel like I'm being restrictive or diety. it's about honoring my body and when stuff like that happens right on my face it's hard to deny that it's not what my body wants, regardless of what my head might think.

Sunny, my problem is that I won't likely feel any short term effects but I have some health issues that could become serious if I don't do what I'm supposed to. I prefer living to dying, so it's a pretty easy choice. Patto

Funny you should mention apples. They seem to be one of the 'love-hate' items of dieting and IE too. Long associated with 'health' etc. I know I used to enjoy them but when I really had a choice (IE) I didn't want them. But after a while I found that I did enjoy them again - for some time, until I'd had enough and stopped eating them (again).

I find that this is quite normal behavior regarding foods. They are so tasty when first in season, loose the allure as time passes and can easily become desirable again after backing off for a while. This has to be nature's balancing act - variety! A single focus just does not create a nicely rounded life ;-)

Writing about food makes me think about food and eating. sigh. I think SIMPLE magazine had a piece in it where it said that patients who ate 3 apples a day lost weight. Who would want to eat 3 apples a day? Maybe that's what's wrong. I don't want to eat 3 apples a day. I don't really want to eat one apple a day, but I could try. But that would be a diet mentality, wouldn't it? Tai

That's a favorite of mine too. And with peanut butter as an alternative to that.

Both satisfy me beyond just eating an apple.

Aren't we impressionable? I know I am. For instance, I was reading a recipe including bananas and peanut butter, and thought it would be a good idea to mash a banana in peanut butter to lessen the fat content. Also, another book was saying how animal fats are so bad for us, I believe that to an extent although I'm still eating animal foods, and recommended peanut butter, although it, too, is filled with fat but not of the animal kind, which is hard to digest. Ohh! I love them with PB too! I haven't had that in a long time. I need to add PB to my shopping list. Why no PB Patti?RainSubject: Re: applesTo: IntuitiveEating_Support Date: Wednesday, July 6, 2011, 7:42 AM

Sunny, I do like that choice of words: to honor my body rather than restrict it. It helps to think that way when I'm making choices. TaiTo: IntuitiveEating_Support Sent: Wednesday, July 6, 2011 7:36 PMSubject: Re: Re: apples

Hi, Patti. I'm not laughing, but I wonder about the choices you must make. How do you choose? TaiTo: "IntuitiveEating_Support " <IntuitiveEating_Support >Sent: Wednesday, July 6, 2011 1:48 PMSubject: Re: Re: apples

My doctor put me on a low sodium, low oxalate diet. You guys will laugh because whole wheat and spinach and beets are bad for me but I can have wonder bread and vanilla ice cream. See, healthy is relative. ;)Patti
