. That sounds good but I am not sure how to do that without losing the thread of the conversation. Sandy

Could we please delete all posts we're responding to before writing

our emails? Some of us are using digest and it becomes very hard to

scroll through messages that repeat and repeat. Just delete the

extra messages, please!

Thanks so much!

you'll find that is a universal drawback to digest mode on every list out

there. The only way to solve it is to go to individual emails. I do understand

the frustration coz i can't stand digest myself. There are many reasons why

people don't clip the message trails from not knowing how to forgetting. For

those of us who read and reply from a small handheld device, its nearly

impossible. It can be done but its so difficult i personally dont bother any

more. Ive just tried 6 times to select your message below to cut it and it didnt

work. Sorry. Its just a part of digest.

I've been playing around with this, trying to figure out how to actually delete replies...When replying to the group from digest, as I suppose many of us are, there is no way to trim the reply, so it's really frustrating to be asked to do something we can't do! When I hit "reply to group" at the bottom of the thread, I only see a blank email...nothing to delete. (Yet I understand the annoyance, as I dislike scrolling past all those replies, too.)Now, I just tested the "reply via web post" option at the bottom of the thread, and a new window appeared with the message to which I was responding. Looks like the "reply via web post" option allows you to delete part or all of the previous message. Also, I would like to test something else. I am sending this message via "reply to

group." I checked under Options for Mail (upper left of screen), and I see that I have the "quote original message" unchecked. If this message of mine contains the post from Tailyn, we'll know that this "quote original message" option does not apply to digest replies, and we should reply by hitting "reply by web post." If it doesn't contain the original message, then that is how we solve this problem! In summary, two possible solutions:1) use "reply via web post" instead of "reply to group"2) Uncheck "quote original message" in OptionsI will send a test email using the "reply via web post" as well. Thanks,Sara

"This post does not contain one from Tai so that may work for some."Yay. I am glad to see that the replied-to post did not show. As it did not, it appears that unchecking "Quote the text of the original message" under options in Mail will solve the problem."For others not having any idea what you are replying to is even more frustrating

than having a whole group of messages attached."It's not that hard to quote an email as you had previously suggested, or to write a short sentence that says, "So and so, in reference to your point about blah blah blah..."So everyone has different preferences on how they want to see stuff, and that's ok. Sunny wants to see some context for replies (understandable, otherwise it might get confusing), and would like to see less replies attached, so we aren't looking at every single reply made to a thread. I am sure that most people on this board agree with one if not both of these points of view, and I think we can accommodate both :)Folks, all you have to do (if you use Yahoo Mail) is click find Options at the upper left of the screen. Select Mail Options, then make sure "Quote the text of the original message" beside Replying/Forwarding is not checked. No need to

unsubscribe from digest if you, like me, find it more of a pain in the a** to receive 20 or more extra emails a day in than to have to scroll through a few extra paragraphs. Then when you reply, just please copy a few lines of what you are replying to, or type a sentence for context. And of course, no one has to comply with the above. This is just my attempt to respond to different expressed needs.Sandy, the above instructions apply to Yahoo Mail, and I see that you are on Gmail. I'd be happy to work with you off this board. Apologies for hijacking the board for an IT discussion. Now back to IE and my efforts to get my insatiable hunger under control. I hope this information was useful to some.Sara
