Guest guest
try to remember that it is just ONE measure of health. doctors get very focused on numbers because they are simple and clear cut. but how do you FEEL? My liver study lab work came back worse than last week. It is fluctuating up and down but is still way off even though I have been off Lopid for 3 weeks now. It is a non fasting lab but I read on line that diet can effect results, especially carbs and fat. Which I have been having since I started IE. Having lab again next week. Guest guest
I agree Abby. Tests can be great indicators but they should be considered just that - pointing in a direction, not a final word on the subject. Sandy it seems to me that our bodies do 'fluctuate' all the time - temperature, pulse, glucose level etc etc etc. I would think that if your liver was in an impaired state you would feel less than tip top. And even after 3 weeks your body may still be retaining some of the effects of the medicine. When I reduced my cholesterol medication my doctor didn't want to repeat the labs until 3 months later. Don't let them stampede you unless you have a serious condition that requires very close monitoring. Guest guest
Katcha, Thanks. I am seeing the psychiatrist Tuesday and see what he says. I'm on Depakote which can affect the liver too. I have been feeling great except not sleeping well at night. But I cycle like that anyway. I have been having the lab tests every 6? months I think. Anyway I have never had a poor liver report before. I am scheduled to have the labwork weekly until things look better. Well Have a good Holiday. I think I am going to my daughter's for a BBQ on Sunday and then catch the fireworks Monday. Sandy I agree Abby. Guest guest
Sandy I am not trying to out guess your care at all. But I will share with you that I have found errors in lab reports myself. ONE test is not something I would hang my hat on. And do consider having the next test done at another lab with to be safe and sure. Best wishes for you, Katcha IEing since March 2007 >
Guest guest
Katcha, thanks. I am having one a week there now and levels are fluctuating. My insueance uses that lab but they do have other sites. I also will talk to the psychiatrist on Tues and if next weeks results are not better(or even if they are), I will make an appointment with my primary care to discuss the matter. I am having swelling in my legs also, especially if I am at the computer too long. Have a good weekend. Sandy Sandy I am not trying to out guess your care at all.
