Guest guest
One of the impacting thoughts shared here (by group owner Gillian) is that she finds it much more helpful to be 'in charge' instead of needing to 'control'. That subtle difference is one of between the decisions being yours and those horrible shoulds ;-) Katcha IEing since March 2007 > .... if it were so easy for most of us to control things, ... Guest guest
Katcha, Thanks for the difference in wording. Our words carry a lot of power. Guest guest
Yeah, I agree that words carry power. Like - releasing weight rather than losing it. I think that I hold on to weight, and like the idea of releasing it. Like letting go of things that no longer serve me. Guest guest
Yes, 'in charge' makes a big difference of perception. But I have to remember to think that way. In control makes me think of that internal, horrible battle. In charge makes me realize I am (or should be) a rational person. Thanks again. Guest guest
Tai, how about using image to help you with this? When you find yourself thinking that you need to be 'in control' picture yourself as a private being ordered by a demanding general. Then 'flip' that image over to YOU being the general and food being the private ;-) Power to YOU :-) :-) Katcha IEing since March 2007 > > Yes, 'in charge' makes a big difference of perception. Guest guest
Katcha, I try to make proper choices. That's about the best I can do now. Guest guest
Tai, I so do NOT want to appear to be in 'lecture' mode! Yes we all do the best we can and even then it too often falls short of what we would like for it to be. I guess what has grabbed my attention is reading how much judgment you seem to be putting into your IE effort. 'Proper', Good/bad, originate in our brains, not tummies ;-) It was a big shock to me when I realized how much I had been listening and reacting to 'experts' but not TRUSTING of my own body! Poor dear little body, hobbling along with all that I heap on it yet remaining TRUE to me and itself - as best it could. Wishing you a happy reunion with your own dear body and self.
