Hi .

Just had an appt with my rheumy last week. He told me

that if I was to consider getting pregnant, I need to

tell him so he can get me off both MTX and Enbrel, as

neither should be used when trying to get pregnant.

In addition, I believe MTX needs to be stopped

prior...I've heard anywhere from 6 months to 1 month

prior to conception.

Now, LAST time I went to see my rheumy, about 4 months

ago, he told me that enbrel might be OK to get

pregnant on. AND I also asked my primary Dr (an

internist), who got out a BIG medical book that said

Enbrel might be OK to get pregnant on. BUT she called

me back later that night (she's a wonderful dr.) to

tell me that she looked up the study (note SINGULAR

study) on Enbrel & pregnancy, and it contained a

whopping 19 individuals. So I'm thinking that's not

really a reliable study! ;)

Anyway, I'd say we should probably be off these meds,

from what my Drs. have been saying.

But it's interesting to hear what other drs say. Love

this group!

Subject: Humira and Pregnancy

My new Rheumatologist told me I need to be off Humira

when I am trying to have a baby, my old Rheumatologist

told me I can be on it until I actually conceive. Now

I don't know what to think!

If anyone has been on the TNF blockers and trying to

have a child or if anyone knows about this, I would

like to hear from them!

Thanks!

Eliz
