,

what scares me is all the unknowns about enbrel. And

the fact that I have been getting what I thought were

nosebleeds but now I " m thinking are my sinuses

bleeding after I give myself the shots. It's not

gushing blood or anything, more like the sniffles, but

they last between 5 minutes to an hour. AND, when you

think about the 2x/wk shot, and 2-3 days of bleeding

after, that's almost every day! It's been going on

since Dec/Jan, and at that time everyone (drs) were

telling me it was the dry weather. I knew then that

that wasn't right, but couldn't convince anyone else.

My rheumy doesn't seem concerned, my reg. dr. doesn't

seem concerned, so I guess I shouldn't be. But I've

never had them before, they always come with my shot

(if I stop my shots, the bleeding goes away), and it

concerns me.

And lymphoma. That worries me.

But see? My hands are really great now, so I have the

freedom to worry about things like that. And I have

energy to do things like go for a walk/run!

My rheumy also mentioned to me what you mention: that

if the meds are stopped, most patients have the

symptoms return within 5-8 years.

Thanks for the input:)

Hi Rie,

I just had to stop my Humira due to fever, I missed

only one dose and I started having symptoms again. I

have only been on TNF blockers for my RA though

so I didn't substitute. What in particular scares

you? I remember an article that Jacy had posted that

said 95% of RA patients need to continue their

medication in order to stay in remission.

Hi Rie,

Yes, the unknowns of the TNFs scare me as well, but for me personally, the

benefits outweigh the risks. I consider myself fortunate because when I got

my RA, these drugs were available. I credit them with saving my joints and

giving me very little permanent damage. I think Harold once said that it is the

quality of my present life that I am thinking about and these drugs have been

a miracle for me.

Maybe you should consider Humira as you only inject it once every 2 weeks?
