Thyrogen and Vomiting

Has anybody experienced vomiting after a thyrogen injection? After my first

injection, I threw up for hours the following morning. I have heard that

thyrogen can lead to nausea, but I was not prepared for vomiting and that much

of it. My doctor had to prescribe medicine to stop the vomiting. After the

second injection, I was fine, except a bit hung over from the previous day. I

also had flu-like symptoms, such as achiness, chills, and skin tenderness.

Maybe I had a stomach virus? Has anybody gotten very sick from thyrogen

injections?

I had nausea, but not to the point of throwing up. However I take protonix and

one of the things it does for me is quiet down the queasies. With the thyrogen

I felt as tho I had not taken any protonix. First shot was Monday, by Friday my

stomach finally began to quiet down.

Debbi,

I think I replied before that I had gotten pretty nauseous from Thyrogen. I

guess it really depends on your threshold for nausea if you will vomit or not.

I also had flu-like symptoms after the shots--achiness, lethargy, etc.

Fortunately it was very short lived.

,

My endo presecribed Compazine for the vomiting. Stopped it dead in its tracks!

I went to the Genzyme website and learned that nausea is not a rare occurence,

although vomiting is reported less than 2% of the time, if my memory serves me

well. Considering how sensitive I am to most things, it doesn't surprise me

that I would not take well to the thyrogen. BLAH!

, thanks for all your wonderful posts, recipes, and support. You are a

real blessing to this support group and I have benefited greatly from your

posts!!
