Tess, I just had a CT scan a couple of weeks ago after I joined the National Lung Screening Trial. One of the sheets I was given says the following: " Spiral CT, a technology introduced in the 1990's, can pick up tumors well under 1 centimeter in size, while chest X-rays detect tumors about 1 to 2 centimeters in size. " Of course they won't be looking for tumors in your case, but the CT scan will show them greater detail of your lungs than an X-ray would. Good luck! Guest guest
Possibly you have a thyroid problem. That can make you gain weight regardless of diet. Your metabolism can be affected if you are on steriods, as it holds water or any fluid you intake and stores it.
Guest guest
Skye how soon can you get in for the CT scan. I don't think anyone could venture to guess what it is causing your weight gain. My hope is just that the wait isn't very long because I know you are worried. Hugs to you Skye. Guest guest
Skye, Sounds like ascites from liver problems. That can cause sudden weight gain and big pot belly. Sometimes they drain the fluid off...and of course stop any meds that are stressing out the liver. Things can change quite quickly. And they don't necessarily have to drain the liquid. They gave me lasix which really helped. Nina

Guest guest
Dearest Tess, I am so sorry that you are having this problem now and I will definetely pray that the doctors will find an answer for this that will not encompass any more surgeries for you. Hopefully, it is just something simple that a few days of a new medication will cure. You are in my prayers always and I know better days are coming for all of us. God bless, Althea
