Guest guest
I was eating lunch out today, by myself. I ordered a wheat wrap that had in it hummus, various veggies, havarti cheese and some kind of oil based dressing. It came with potato chips. I'd brought a book to read with me, but I decided that especially when I ate the chips, I wasn't going to read - that's a food that's easy for me to eat mindlessly instead of mindfully, so I decided to pay extra attention to if they still were tasting good, as I kept eating. Because I was stopping my reading for each chip, I found myself both eating a little slower, and also feeling ok with eating some of the wrap without reading, too. Best part - I suddenly knew when I was full! I'd only eaten half the wrap (it was big) and half the chips. I was so busy paying attention to the taste of the chips, that truthfully I'd forgotten all about also trying to pay attention to fullness overall - but I think for the first time since incorporating IE ideas into my eating, it came instinctly without my even trying. I'm very excited about this. Thanks to all of you who told me to trust the process and that changes would indeed happen. As you know I do structure my food more than many IE'ers, but it's important to me that I learn to be more mindful while eating and to stop when satisfied/full, so this feels great. I'm sure it'll still go back and forth plenty, but that's ok.
