Guest guest
Hello all, I find myself recently suffering with the depression monster. I had recently finished an overwhelming amount of schoolwork and the day after I turned it all in it started. I need some tips on how to fight this creature. I still have work to do and if I don't get moving it's going to come crashing down on my head. I am wondering if I like working with a heavy work load and I'm unconsciously wanting the work to pile up? If it helps I am suffering the type of depression where I am just tired all the time. Sleeping in, vegging in front of the TV ect. I am not having the negative self thoughts. -- “I have a grip on reality, just not this particular one.”-- Author Unknown* *
Guest guest
Hello , Doug, and many others I presume, DEPRESSION. Could this be considered a flea or reaction from BPD treatment in some cases? My nada " taught " me to be depressed, resorted to suicidal ideation regularly and tried to make me stay in the dark house with blinds drawn. I usually don't even step inside her house now, just stand on the porch. It aggravates the h*ll out of her to have to step out in the sunshine. :-) The best thing I ever learned from a counselor was the advice to start with one small thing at a time - for any problem really; depression, a messy house, relationship problems... For example, she told me to organize ONE DRAWER to get started. It helps so much when I do it! So simple and I feel stupid about it, but hey, it works. Took my little boy on a 20 minute walk today. Made all the difference in the world. :-)

Guest guest
Tips for battling the Black Monkey of Depression. You will want to isolate. Don t. You will want to lay down and give up. Don t. You will want to do it by yourself. Don t. You ll get in black moods where you actually want to stay depressed, and resent any offers of help. Don t do it. You ll want to give up on music, and chocolate, and exercise, and spending time in the light to battle SAD. Don t. You won t want to connect with a support group. Do. You won t want to talk to a Therapist. Do. You won t want to see a Dr about anti depressants. Do. Because this fucking monkey will eat your skivvies. If he doesn t kill you outright, he ll take away from you everything that makes your life worth living. And part of those voices playing inside your head and heart say, you deserve it, you are not worth being happy. I know it s hard to overcome those voices. I m there myself. Don t try it alone. Guest guest
, Are you sure that depression is the real problem? Being tired all the time certainly can be a symptom of depression, but it can also be due to exhaustion or various medical problems. It sounds like you've been working yourself hard, and it isn't uncommon to have the exhaustion hit you suddenly after working hard then getting to a point where you can take a breather. If you aren't having the negative thoughts, I think that having a talk with your doctor and maybe a thorough medical checkup might be in order. Ambertolina is right about making sure you're getting enough vitamin D and omega-3 fatty acids. Both can make a huge difference in how you feel. There are a lot of other treatable things that can cause tiredness and depression. Thyroid problems and sleep apnea are two examples. Assuming that this is depression you should probably force yourself to get up and go out and do things. Being alone and lack of activity both tend to help make feed into feeling more and more depressed. Listening to non-depressing music can help a lot too.
