Was going to drop a couple food groups and all of a sudden thinking about gorging myself the night before i do so. Ugh!!! How to get out of that?!?! Don't do it! You need all of your food groups (I assume you mean groups of food, not groups of people discussing food). There's no way your body is going to let you get away with it; it WILL rebel, and the fact that you're doing last supper eating now, means that it's rebelling before you even start. Guest guest
You may want to consider legalizing your favorite (previously) forbidden food. Just take your time with this - its usually not an overnight thing (what is really?). Slay those diet demons one at a time! lol Best to you, Katcha IEing since March 2007 > > Oh my, how funny this is popping up right now...I've been very guilty > of the last supper mentality. Guest guest
I've been eating pistachio nuts like they're going out of style. But it's easy for me to sit here and munch. So after some days of doing this, I decided to time myself, and give myself a certain amount of time to eat. (I'm alone doing this, so I don't need to socialize at this juncture and worry about being with people.) I gave myself about 10 minutes to munch on the pistachios, and I had fewer than I would have if I had no time limit. After the allotted time, I stopped eating and decided I would wait that proverbial 20 minutes to give my brain the time to digest this. It worked out OK, since I have not felt the need to eat anything for quite a while. Now I'm getting hungry again (I think) and so I'm figuring to eat something. But ... here's a question ... I looked at the pistachios and did not want to eat another one of them. But I want something to eat. Does this mean that I"m not really hungry? I think I'm hungry, but I don;'t want more pistachio nuts. Not quite the last supper mentality, but bordering on it. :-) TaiSubject: fessing up: last supper!!!To: IntuitiveEating_Support Date: Friday, August 12, 2011, 11:01 PM Oh my, how funny this is popping up right now...I've been very guilty of the last supper mentality. Guest guest
Maybe I am missing something, but I think no, the fact that you are not wanting pistachio nuts doesn't mean you're not hungry! I think you've eaten enough pistachio nuts for right now, is all. If you were really starving, maybe ANYTHING would look good to you. But I think it's best to eat before you get to that point! Guest guest
I think you got it right. I had enough pistachios. :-) I decided to cook veggies & a hotdog and then decided I'd like to add some pasta but did not have any :-( so I added some brown rice which is still cooking, looking forward to my dindin, hope it's good. I put BBQ sauce in it. :-) Tai I've been eating pistachio nuts like they're going out of style. But it's easy for me to sit here and munch. Guest guest
Tai, my version of the nut munchies is to put a handful in a small dish so that when I empty it I can decide if I'm satisfied or opt to go fill the dish up again. Its easy for me to go unconscious with 'snacks' so this helps me to have a stopping point that I might not otherwise have. There has been a time or two where I stopped even before the dish was empty, but that's not the usual with me ;-) Its a small awareness step that works for me.
