Sandy, just for 'food for thought' - I really haven't lost lots of weight (not

scale verified but clothes), but my need for cholesterol medication dropped

since I have been doing IE. I personally think that not eating fats plus

'combating' cholesterol with meds actually can cause my body to 'double down' in

its production of cholesterol. Sort of like last supper eating body wise ;-)

Again, this is just my thoughts, but I will say that since I stopped limiting

fats, eating high quality (butter, olive oil) fats and decreased my medication

(half dose), my test results came back AMAZING - lower than after starting

medication.

Soooo perhaps the 'good diet' you really need is simply eating what YOU need.

And if you 'stay your course' the results of all tests can be lots more accurate

and meaningful than if you jack rabbit between diets? Hang in here and hopefully

if you can relax and trust your body to be your guide, you can surprise your

doctor as well as yourself :-)

BEST to you, Katcha

don't see the doctor until 9/2 to discuss this. On line the best treatment is

diet and exercise and perhaps some medication. I am wavering between IE and

dieting and " last supper " mentality. The thought crosses my mind to really be

" good " with my diet so that I will weigh less by the time I see doc. Then I

laugh, that's only 3 weeks and not like I am going to drop 10 pounds. Or my

other thought is I might as well eat anything and everything before I have to

give up the foods I love. I guess I will wrestle with this for the next 3 weeks

and then see what he has to say. When I first went on IE I really went over

board on step one and neglected the others. Maybe this time I will do it by

paying attention to all the steps. Sandy

You know Katcha, you really do have something there with your food for thought. Often times the things we substitute for fat when trying to observe an low fat or no fat diet are really not good for our bodies. There is so much more junk in margarine, low fat dressings, etc that are worse than if we just used butter, olive oil and avocados. I stopped using low fat stuff a long time ago when I realized they just use more sugar and artificial flavors to replace the taste you get from fats and they use chemicals to replace the creamy thickness and texture from fats. The real stuff comes from natural sources and always make the healthiest choices.

Sandy, good luck to you. You have a bit of analysis to do now so you can figure out how to incorporate the very best foods to treat your condition as well as your taste buds. I have faith that you will have a wonderfully enjoyable diet. Before cutting things out forever, please come to us and maybe we can suggest better ways to replace these items.

Hi, Sandy. The "be good" mentality is one that I work on very gently in my thinking because I tend to beat myself up when I impose restrictions and don't live up to them. I know I should eat fruit, veggies, etc. and so try to incorporate them in my eating process, and so when thinking about what to eat, I try to use reasonable thinking (if possible, not always possible for me...). Just do the best you can without reproaching yourself. I try to figure finally what fruits and vegetables and other items do I really want?, Beaulieu wrote:Subject: liver biopsyTo: IntuitiveEating_Support Date:

Tai, Thanks.  I will be gentle with myself.  I went to the Orlando science Museum today with my daughter and grandson.  I did not worry about what I was eating or when.  I had a decent breakfast and packed a granola bar for snack. I ate that when I started feeling weak(hunger really).  The only place to eat there was Subway so my daughter and I split a foot long, a diet Coke and a few chips.  Later I got hungry and bought some cookies there and enjoyed them thoroughly.  It was a great day.  I had a nice supper and even enjoyed a little ice cream for dessert.  Sandy

But you don't know the cause yet? :-)

There are several things that can cause a fatty liver, eating too much

only one of them. Certain drugs can cause it, too. I don't know if

you're on any meds but it might be a possibility.

styxia, I have to wait 2 weeks for an appointment with the doctor! At least I guess it's not urgent.  I was on Lopid and was taken off that.  I also am on Depakote and that was cut back. Both of those can affect the liver. I will have to wait and see what the doctor says I guess. Sandy

So your liver conditon might have nothing to do with your eating and you

might be able to relax around food again. :-)

styxia, I hope so.  I was just getting into IE pretty good when all this went down.  And I wouldn't be surprised if it was related to eating.  I went over board in the first phase. I vacillate between " diet " mentality and " last supper " .  I feel like a yo-yo. I did not hear from my primary care doctor about the latest liver blood work but probably won't hear anything until tomorrow.  I think the stress of all this has been more harmful than anything.  Oh well, Sandy
