Guest guest
I'm only doing the B12 drops right now and at first, my dd responded but then it " peaked out " and no more significant improvement. I recently added DMG in November and it did wonders for focus, receptive language and sociability. BUT, I had to increase folic acid A LOT. I was only giving 400 mcg of folinic acid and I found out through other people that wasn't enough. I'm still doing the B12 drops and about 100 mg of DMG but I've had to increase the folic acid to about 2200 mcg to see the B12 and DMG work. I'm just starting to get *some* prompted verbal imitation now. My dd had zero verbal imitation skills before. I got some random words with B12 but nowhere near verbal imitation (much less prompted verbal imitation). I've been trying to push language some more with carnosine, DMG, and B12. Admittedly, I think it has increased yeast. I'm seeing some vocal stimming coming back and I think I'll have to increase the yeast protocol. I'm going to increase the carnosine as per the Dr. Chez protocol -- right now, I'm only giving 400 mg of carnosine once a day with 5 mg of zinc and I just found out that I'm way under-dosed again. I'm adding in Vit E and I'm planning on increasing it to twice a day to see if I can get more language out. I've had to use them all to get even a little bit of verbal imitation, but at least it's somewhat there now -- it was completely not there before. My daughter is on mb12 shot every third night and I haven't seen a difference either way, tonight she got shot # 26 s I think I have gIving it some time. My question is does DMG & TMG do the same thing? I have a hard time understand all this biomedical stuff but it looks like they do..so maybe if one doesn't work the other one will Thanks,
Guest guest
Thanks for the reply, I am giving her folic acid as well with dinner supplements. We are using a product called 5-MTHF by Thorne Research and she was to get 1/2 cap which is 500 mcg a night but I for some reason I didn't read it right and have been giving a full cap. So she is getting 1000 mcg and I believe that the shots has folic acid compounded into them as well. We tried the b12 drops and also saw nothing so moved to the shots. I'm just looking for a way to get her talking, she is 30 months old and can only say momma and dadda. She does babble and sometimes it sounds like she is trying to say different words and something is holding her back from getting them out clear. I go see my dan in Feb and thought I might ask to try either DMG or TMG. Guest guest
Most people start with trying DMG first. It seems that more kids responded positively to DMG as compared to TMG. Guest guest
I'd say you gave it a fair enough trial. I tried it for 5 weeks and wasn't seeing much so I stopped (as it looked like it was making his insomnia worse). I'd say TMG or DMG are worth a shot....you can always go back to the shots if it turns out they were helping more than you thought. Guest guest
Well, this is only my opinion, but, I'd probably stop and move on. a) It's money better spent somewhere else and b)If you do decide to go with tmg or dmg and you find success, you'd have to try to figure out if it was a combination of the b12 plus the tmg, or just the tmg alone and c) you can always go back.I know when my dan started my son on b12, he told me to stop his b complex. I think that was a mistake. I think all the b's are pretty important. He hasn't been on either for a few weeks now and it's apparent he needs it. Guest guest
Oh, Maia did horribly on the B-complex. They made her crazy sensory seeking and she got very agitated on them. It wasn't just me seeing it, I sent her to school after she had the b-complex and the teachers asked me what happened at the end of the day, said she was chewing on her chewy tube like crazy and started doing visual stimming. Maia doesn't seem to tolerate any multis or " complex " solutions. It's a really fine line with her and things need to be just so and I find the complex solutions just don't get things quite right. Well, this is only my opinion, but, I'd probably stop and move on. a) It's money better spent somewhere else and b)If you do decide to go with tmg or dmg and you find success, you'd have to try to figure out if it was a combination of the b12 plus the tmg, or just the tmg alone and c) you can always go back. Guest guest
I bought some Betaine (TMG) a long time ago, not sure why exactly I bought it, I think it was before I started biomed.I was using it on the kids over the summer but didn't know why or what I was supposed to be looking for. LOL Today I used it on my son with folinic, magnesium taurate, and P5P (b6)I didn't notice anything one way or the other till late this afternoon, approx 6 hours after the dose. His speech was not clearer, but more accessible. I noticed this earlier this week when I did the same thing. Like, he had snappy comebacks for me, instead of the usual grasping for the right words or speaking slowly/stuttering, etc. My daughter is on mb12 shot every third night and I haven't seen a difference either way, tonight she got shot # 26 s I think I have gIving it some time. Guest guest
I would do both at the same time and see what happens. I mean, just introduce the DMG without changing anything else so you know that whatever you see is the change from DMG. If you remove the shots and introduce the DMG, you might not be able to tell if DMG is just not working or if she needs the shots, as well. But just watch out for needing more folic acid. Maia started doing this finger piano playing stim that was new when I introduced the DMG and I didn't add in enough folinic acid. Carnosine has also been helpful with word approximations in our house. Just be sure to add zinc and with it. (I'll note that my daughter was completely mute -- not even mama and dada -- at 36 months). I mean, she had NO sounds at all for the longest time -- until around 38 or 39 months, when I removed soy completely from her diet. Removing the soy made the biggest difference in whether or not she made any sounds. Soy was causing her total severe verbal apraxia. I started with 1/2 tsp of CLO a day but I had to increase that, too, to get some more intentional verbal imitation with her...I have her on 3/4 tsp/day right now. I'm waiting for our Kirkman's soy-free Vit E to come in and I'm going to introduce that. I've read that Vit E is important for language. What's the other thing I heard about for language -- oh, yeah, Vit D. I've been adding Vit D with her CLO, too. I'm on about 1000 ui ontop of the Vit D in the CLO but we may need a little more. I've found it also made a difference whether or not I added Vit D separately. There seems to be more word approximations with more Vit D. Do you think I should stop the shots altogether or just add DMG or TMG also? To: mb12 valtrex Sent: Mon, January 17, 2011 9:37:50 AMSubject: Re: DMG & TMG I'd say you gave it a fair enough trial. Guest guest
....Some people have a hard time with folate/folinic acid. Also, with the B complexes, the B12 ratio to other B's tends to be super high. I don't think this works for Tom. I think he needs the B6 just as badly and I like having the Biotin in there because it's a handy little yeast fighter. It took a good while to find the one I thought would work best for him...I got very lucky. -Tammy To: mb12 valtrex Sent: Mon, January 17, 2011 11:20:56 PMSubject: Re: DMG & TMG Oh, Maia did horribly on the B-complex. They made her crazy sensory seeking and she got very agitated on them. It wasn't just me seeing it, I sent her to school after she had the b-complex and the teachers asked me what happened at the end of the day, said she was chewing on her chewy tube like crazy and started doing visual stimming. Maia doesn't seem to tolerate any multis or "complex" solutions. It's a really fine line with her and things need to be just so and I find the complex solutions just don't get things quite right. Well, this is only my opinion, but, I'd probably stop and move on. a) It's money better spent somewhere else and b)If you do decide to go with tmg or dmg and you find success, you'd have to try to figure out if it was a combination of the b12 plus the tmg, or just the tmg alone and c) you can always go back.I know when my dan started my son on b12, he told me to stop his b complex. I think that was a mistake. I think all the b's are pretty important. He hasn't been on either for a few weeks now and it's apparent he needs it. I'll go back to the complex.hth,Tammy To: mb12 valtrex Sent: Mon, January 17, 2011 9:41:30 PM Subject: Re: DMG & TMG Do you think I should stop the shots altogether or just add DMG or TMG also? I'd say TMG or DMG are worth a shot....you can always go back to the shots if it turns out they were helping more than you thought. Guest guest
....Some people have a hard time with folate/folinic acid. Also, with the B complexes, the B12 ratio to other B's tends to be super high. I don't think this works for Tom. Guest guest
Here's an odd thing: I met with the Dan - we agreed to stop the B12 because we weren't seeing any benefits & it was making my son's insomnia worse. He suggested we try the 5mthf even without the B12. Does that make sense? -Tammy To: mb12 valtrex Sent: Tue, January 18, 2011 7:14:59 AMSubject: Re: DMG & TMG Have you started Folonic yet, since you are using MB12? My son is so much more interactive. No reason not to try DMG or TMG.
