i wasn't " allowed " to come to family holiday celebrations as long as I dated my

old boyfriend.

So, now, when mom wants to make plans with me for Thanksgiving, etc., my stomach

does flip flops.

Thanksgiving

Hello,

Hopefully I can explain this properly. My father's family (father is

deceased) wants us to do thanksgiving with them. My grandfather is getting

older and rarely gets to see my kids (he is a long haul trucker). My mother

is always welcome though and we have had NC for 8 months. She never

attended in the past and in fact never speaks to them anymore. I have a

fear though that she will go out of her way to attend in order to corner my

kids (the reason for the NC-long story). I have thought this before and she

never showed. There is no issue between me and these family members. The

bigger problem I have is that they do not do thanksgiving as I would like my

children to experience it. Everyone gets there food and spreads out to

eat. My ILs on the other hand do the whole family togetherness thing. I

feel bad going to the ILs for both t day and Christmas and want my

kids/dad's family to have a relationship. I personally (selfishly?) would

enjoy the ILs better and be less stressed. Any advice?
