Guest guest
I posted about a week and a bit ago about my 3.5 y.o. dd who has chronic diarrhea. I had read either on this group or another group, I can't remember which now, but someone mentioned using Culturelle when there are indications of bacterial issues in the stomach. We had some Culturelle but initially, when I tried it about 2 months ago, there was some bad reaction (stomach cramps, vicious diarrhea). So I stopped it. So I tried it again in the past few days, and low and behold, a perfect poop this afternoon. Perfect. 10/10. It was kind of orange but she had a heap of butternut squash fries last night for dinner. But I had noticed her poop start drying out yesterday, although it was still mushy. Last night, I also started an enzyme for yeast. It wasn't Candidase but another brand. I had given it to her last night and another dose of it at around 3 AM (she was up, not going to eat breakfast for several hours, so I decided to give her another bit). I had given her a yeast enzyme because some vocal stimming had started to emerge again and was laughing at nothing so I thought we were seeing yeast again based on behavior. Vocal stimming seems to be gone today, but vocalizations/word approximations are also decreased, as well. I also didn't give the probiotic at the same time as an enzyme like I usually do. Do you guys usually give probiotics separately from enzymes? And if so, how far apart should they be given? Do probiotics work better on an empty stomach? I think I did too much in too close of a time frame that I don't know what made the perfect poop. I'd like to keep it up. We've had a few weeks of perfect poop before, only to have it revert back to diarrhea weeks later. But she had not had any antibiotics this time. Only the Culturelle. Now, my question is, can yeast cause chronic diarrhea or was it likely the Culturelle working against bad bacteria in the gut? And if it was the Culturelle, what kinds of bad bacteria is the Culturelle likely to be effective against? Any other thoughts would be appreciated. I don't know what I'm doing wrong or right here and some outside opinions might help me make sense of it.
