Guest guest
My nada is left-handed, and she said she was dyslexic as a child but outgrew it. She maintained her dyslexia was due to being forced to learn to print and write with her right hand. In her time, children were discouraged from writing left-handed. According to an article I found, up until about the 1950s there was some kind of prejudice against favoring the left hand! My Sister inherited the left-handedness but never had dyslexia, and is so very NOT personality-disordered, so I don't think there is a connection. -Annie > > So, How many of your nadas were/are left-handed? > > Mine is. Guest guest
My nada is right handed and still operates mainly in the witch/bitch mode, often in the waif mode and during Thanksgiving in the hermit mode with a very, very liberal sprinkling of narcissism. Guest guest
Wow? My nada is the same! Is left-handed, but is still dyslexic! She was forced to ditch her left handedness for the same reason. Myself and one brother inherited the left-handedness. My left handed brother has both dyslexia and BPD (not diagnosed like nada's). I have not had any personality issues (no one seems put off and I have not trouble keeping friends) and I'm not dyslexic. So I'd say the chances are 50/50 there might be a connection! hmmm? Guest guest
My nada is right handed. She's always gotten details of any story confused, is that a form of dyslexia? ________________________________ To: WTOAdultChildren1 Sent: Sat, November 27, 2010 9:28:59 AM Subject: Re: Re: Left-Handed Nadas? Guest guest
I'm not sure, but I think " dyslexia " specifically refers to perceiving and writing letters/numbers backwards. From what I've turned up on the Internet, less than a third of the population is left-handed (estimates range from 10% to 30%), so IF it happened to turn out that those with bpd have a rate of left-handedness (or any other traits/conditions) significantly higher than the general population, perhaps that could lead to more studies to see if the areas of the brain that control emotional regulation are linked to hand-dominance, or dyslexia, or other traits. -Annie > > > > So, How many of your nadas were/are left-handed? > > > > Mine is. Guest guest
I think getting the details of any story confused is a symptom of BPD! I can't say *anything* to my mother without her mixing everything up and then usually spitting it back out at me in a negative or mean way. That's why I really try to avoid telling her anything personal. > > > > So, How many of your nadas were/are left-handed? > > > > Mine is. Guest guest
My nada wrote with her right hand but claimed she was really left-handed. Since I now know that she was a consumate liar, I don't know what the truth is. I have two bpd cousins and both are right-handed. Having said that, I am left-handed and not BPD...I hope!
