I'm about to give up on the plaquenil though because after two months, it's still causing severe stomach problems. I haven't noticed any improvement in fatigue, though I think it may be helping with inflammation. Nina
Guest guest
Nina, I had nausea and stomach problems with plaquenil for almost a year, but once that wore off, it didn't come back. I also had every other side-effect except the eye problems -- that horrible rash, and I can't even remember the rest. I've been on it about 12 years now, with no side effects at all after the initial ones wore off, but it took several years to get through them. ----- Original Message ----- From: Nina Rheumatoid Arthritis Sent: Monday, April 11, 2005 9:56 PM Subject: Re: I am New to this board ----- Original Message ----- From: Donna > Hi Everyone,My Name is Donna, I am 55 and have had RA for 15 years. Guest guest
YES! How could I have forgotten? But it goes away eventually. ----- Original Message ----- From: Nina Rheumatoid Arthritis Sent: Monday, April 11, 2005 10:07 PM Subject: Re: I am New to this board ----- Original Message ----- From: Hasenstab > I had nausea and stomach problems with plaquenil for almost a year, but once that wore off, it didn't come back. I started taking it about two months ago. Do you remember how long it took before it went away? I've seriously thought of giving it up because of this side effect. Guest guest
Months. I controlled it some by what and when I ate. I have IBS and don't take any meds, so I'm used to that and it wasn't much of a problem. It might wear off sooner with you, though, if you don't have any underlying problem anyway. My motivation was that plaquenil is one of the safest dmaards and I didn't want to have to go to mtx right away. ----- Original Message ----- From: Nina Rheumatoid Arthritis Sent: Monday, April 11, 2005 11:52 PM Subject: Re: I am New to this board ----- Original Message ----- From: Hasenstab > YES! I skipped my dose this morning and will tonight so I can make it to town tomorrow. Nina
Guest guest
Hello Donna. I got RA at age 74 and am now 77. I didn't get much help from Arava alone or Methotrexate alone but then we added Remicade to the Methotrexate. I didn't get much help at 3 mg/kg but when we went up slowly to 6 mg/kg I started to feel much better and was even able to get off Prednisone. I hope the Remicade works well for you also. God bless. ----- Original Message ----- From: Donna Rheumatoid Arthritis Sent: Thursday, April 07, 2005 4:05 PM Subject: I am New to this board Hi Everyone,My Name is Donna, I am 55 and have had RA for 15 years. Guest guest
I don't remember hearing that Palindromic Arthritis affects the soft tissue but it does move from joint to joint. If your soft tissues are involved it might be fibromyalgia instead of arthritis. It is also a autoimmune disease that often affects people with RA or similar diseases. Some doctors are reluctant to diagnose fibromyalgia becasue I don't think there are any lab tests to confirm it and some people use it as an excuse to go on medical disability. That makes it difficult for people who actually have it. You might want to ask your doctor(s) about this. God bless. ----- Original Message ----- From: Donna silva Rheumatoid Arthritis Sent: Wednesday, April 13, 2005 7:34 AM Subject: Re: I am New to this board Thanks Harold I also hope it works..
