Guest guest
CRP is a general test for inflammation. It is often high in people with active RA but can come from any number of causes, and is not necessarily elevated in RA. My doctor doesn't use that but uses the SED rate instead for the same purpose. They are only indications so I don't think it makes much difference which is used. CRP test Thanks for the info Nina... I will definitely look into the green tea that has 50% catechin. I've heard a lot of good things about Green tea.My veins are horrible too. I really don't drink a lot of water and that would help hydrate. I have told the nurses to use a butterfly needle and take out of my hand. One just said..oh, that would hurt...then she continued to stick me a few more times.. I told her either get another nurse or take from my hand. The other nurse came in and tried my vein..she was good..she did get it but it's almost a battle getting them to take from the hand. I am going to look into the Sleep number Beds... Anyway who can explain CRP (C reactive protein) test? I had my bloodwork done and my crp was high..not to the flagging stage but high. he did say he was going to check my inflammation since I was hurting. That is the first time a crp test was run on me. I had so much fun at the rheumy that i get to go back on Monday and see what they have to say about my xrays. Oh Joy!!! I guess it could be worse, my significant other is going to Cleveland to talk about the vet admin getting his colonoscopy scheduled. lolTalk soon..a
Guest guest
Considering that the disease process causes the white blood sells to attack the joints, specifically the synovial fluid causing inflammation and eventually enough damage to erode the synovial fluid to cause Osteo Arthritis which is an inevitable result of the disease. Glucosmine and Hyaluronic supplementation is used by several people, including my fiance, his sister, and mother with amazing results. Their OA is genetic but taking these supplements helps overall. They have found great results injecting hyluran into Knees with OA and I suspect in time for other joints including hips, spine, ankles and shoulders. This may not be indicated for everyone. When I flare, I simply immobilize my joint, use Ice or heat and wait until it subsides. I dont take as much pain medication as I could, but I dont want to be so numb I cant feel pain because I could hurt myself and cause worse damage. Yours, Deborah. Just my two cents. Guest guest
I absolutely can't help but respond here because I believe that many people don't understand the bodies absolute need for lots of clean water everday. If you have inflamation, or pain in your joints and you aren't drinking a minimum of 8 glasses of water a day there is definitely something you can do.......without spending any money to improve the way you feel. Water is a basic need. Minimum 8 glasses per day. If you don't care for the taste of water you can add a slice of lemon to it. The best way to drink water is at room temperature, cold water chills the organs. Water is responsible for hydrating every organ in the body......including your brain. As well, water helps the body to dispose of toxins. Please, if you don't drink enough water everyday, give it a try. Other fluids don't replace water because often they contain sugar, salt or caffiene which are all dehydrating. Water even supplies the lubrication in the joints. Here's a suggestion, when I needed to drink 15 glasses of water per day during a detox program I did I found it challenging. What I did was everytime I went to the washroom I would have a glass of water......then as I left the washroom and passed the kitchen I would stop and have another glass. I managed to drink the 15 glasses of water everyday. You can too if you remember your organs will work so much better and your joints could very well reward you. Oh and Green Tea is great, we drink it all the time. Dorey www.LivingWithRheumatoidArthritis.com > CRP is a general test for inflammation. Guest guest
- ...Very well taken.. That is the most honest and useful info I have heard yet. Most people are dehydrated and they do not even know it. It will cause all kinds of symptoms. Our bodies absolutely NEED WATER.That cannot be stressed enough. I know when I am drinking alot more water I feel a whole lot better. Thank you for bringing this up...................Skye -- In Rheumatoid Arthritis , " " <ddorey@s...> wrote: > > I absolutely can't help but respond here because I believe that many > people don't understand the bodies absolute need for lots of clean > water everday. Guest guest
While I agree that water is necessary with RA and even for general health, I do not think lubricating the joints is an advantage for those with RA. Usually the joints have an excess of synovial fluid and they would benefit from being less hydrated. However, we still should drink lots of water because of its other advantages.
