Guest guest
Janice, Up until this last week, I was terrible at the vegetable thing...they were not appealing at all. Now that my morning sickness seems to be gone (cross my fingers) I am back to eating salads for lunch so that helps a ton...I probably in take more veggies then necessary that way (if that's possible). I've always done pretty good with the fruit because I like it and citrus stuff I actually crave. Keep in mind that fruite juices (if 100% juice) count as a fruit serving. Milk on the other hand..not so good. I don't drink anything but chocolate milk (don't like reg milk) and even still it isn't my favorite beverage. however it isn't just milk that they are after, its the calcium that's in milk, which you can get from lots of different places...yogurt, cheese, ice cream (yes!) and there are even some veggies (I know that's an ugly word). Just try to do your best. I think it is impossible to do it exactly right...that's why we take the prenatal vitamins - they make up for areas which we might lack...at least that's how I look at it. -AmyR 12wk4d
Guest guest
AmyR, Oh, you make me feel better. I was reading the what to expect when book last night and I had totally forgotten that I was supposed to get a quart’s worth of milk everyday. Of course the baby will be fine, but my calcium resources will be becoming depleted. I bought some white grape juice and I’ve been drinking it watered down with my supper. It’s better than water. Today I got some raisins for my midmorning munchies and I’ve got the chocolate skim milk for my midafternoon muchies. I need to buy some yogurt and some of that string cheese. That would make a nice snack as well. I want to eat healthy, but my coworkers eat junk food all day and it’s hard to be strong. What kind of dressing if any do you put on your salad? Do you buy them at a restaurant or pack your lunch? Janice

Guest guest
Janice, Hi there! I am working on my diet too. I don't eat many veggies normally but am trying to now. I also don't usually eat alot of fruit but have added things like bananas, apples and oranges. I also have tried to throw in some yogurt during the day. I have always been such a junk food eater....and it is hard to remember to get healthier....(though dh reminds me!!) I have had thism thing for chocolate shakes, so that has added to the milk drinking. I have been having such m/s it is hard to eat really good. I am just trying to eat things that don't make me feel worse at the moment. (but that should be subsiding I am figuring since I will be going into 2nd trimester!!) Spaghetti seems to be a really good thing right now....believe it or not, I had it for breakfast the other day! Dh laughed when he came down the stairs and seen me eating it. I told him, when I have m/s I have to get whatever I can in my stomach. Why spaghetti, I am not sure!!! I am sure this child is going to hate it by the time it comes out at the rate I have been going!!! 12wk3d ep 12-00 AmyR & , Diet Question AmyR & ,Hello! I was wondering what you guys have been eating in general. Like are you eating a lot of fruits and vegetables and have you been drinking your quart of milk a day? I've been looking at my diet and I think it's really coming up short. I just bought some Nesquik to go with my skim milk so maybe I'll drink more milk. I've been doing good with the fruits, but not the vegetables. Do you have any input?Janice12 weeks

Guest guest
, While I was feeling sick all the time, I ate alot of spaghetti too!! I think it was a combination of when I needed to eat, I needed to eat NOW and spaghetti was quick (since I don't make homemade sauce !) and for some reason it was also really appealing to me. Just thought it was weird that we both were/are doing the same thing. -AMyR 12wk6d

Guest guest
, Mmmm, spaghetti sounds really good right now. I went out to lunch today with a friend who’s 18 weeks pg and she’s only gained 6 pounds! I felt like such a pig as I’ve gained 4 or so. Oh well. At least I’m trying to reign myself in now and not 20 weeks later. Janice 12weeks Get more from the Web.
