Guest guest
Hi everyone- I have found that in my experience having RA, and this is over years of trial and error, that eating light is important. I eat a protein, a vegetable and a carbohydrate at either lunch or dinner, which means chicken pasta and a salad, or lean ground beef, a potato and broccoli. I try and eat fruit each day also. Because of dry mouth and eyes, I have taken to drinking 64+ of liquid which for me is hot water with Orange juice and some equal to sweeten it. I also drink gatorade. I found that if I keep away from caffiene, and keep my sodium intake down, I do just fine. My skin is clearer and I keep my body welll hydrated. The vitamin C in the OJ or apple juice helps keep me from succumbing to colds more often etc. I guess an apple a day does work. Patients with sores in the mouth of course shouldnt drink anything acidic. Find something you like that works for you. I remember living in California and they have Jamba Juice there. Its a Giant Meal SIze Smoothie filled with fruit and special supplements you order for you own special body type- and its amazingly healthy and filling. I usually got my smoothie with extra iron and calcium for women. Its bascially the perfect tasty healthy meal through a straw. I used to have that for lunch or dessert and I had never felt better. Kind of miss CA but not the heat. Also eating light is better all around if you have abdomenal or digestive issues which I have. Guest guest
I agree ; however, you can cause problems when you drink too much water. Not many people know this, but drinking too much water can put you sodium to water intake off balance which can affect your kidneys. In my RA case, with joint inflammation during a flare I develop a low grade fever and crave water, which makes me swell even more. Usually during a flare, I have absolutely no appetite but can drink a gallon of water in one day. I'm sure I'm in the minority. K > > CRP is a general test for inflammation. Guest guest
You are not alone. As a surgical weight loss patient I drink at least 64ozs of water a day. During the hot Texas summers that can double or triple very easy. Water is VERY important especially with all the toxic meds we take. They are hard enough on the liver and kidneys. Without adequate water you can not flush out the byproducts and bad stuff. Now keep in mind I do not drink soda or coffee. So I get all my liquids from water or crystal lite. No sugar either. You sure can cause problems drinking too much and I heard recently they are now recommending that you don't drink as much as previously recommended. Even your dogs/cats can die from drinking too much water. Nina
Guest guest
Yes, I have his book, Your body's many cries for Water: You are not sick, you are thirsty. And I still don't drink enough water, I forget! The salt should be sea salt or Real Salt. http://realsalt.com Is what I have used for years now, it comes from an ancient sea bed, and is mined in Redmond, UT. It's quite sweet for a salt and full of minerals. In fact, it's a pinkish coral color. 1/4 tsp in a quart of water to replace lost minerals and water. http://watercure2.org is dedicated to his work and has the recipe.
