Guest guest
LOL!! Yes, it's possible. Yes, it's limited, and therefore, you have to kinda pick your battle of the day. We removed orange juice and bananas. Although, my kids saw them in the grocery store (bananas) and I got them. It didn't seem to affect them other than, that was all they wanted, and I was going to try to use the bananas in a muffin recipe. I can't now, as all of them are gone... I feel the same!! I would love to eat at a restaurant again... With the Feingold, gf/cf - I am fanatical. With ox's I am a little more lenient, but watch them closely. With soy and corn, I have loosened up a little, but not much. My kids drink pineapple juice (2oz of organic knudson's w/6oz of water) and lemonade. Lemonade is special (as it contains sugar, but it's homemade). Water and Rice Milk (unsweet, Karma brand). My kids have a juicer drink 2x's a day now. I just added golden delicious apples back in (I am trying them). I juice these with carrots. Apparently the malic acid in apples works well with the beta carotene in carrots. Carrots are high ox, so it's a small juicer drink. The second juice is all veg mostly and a couple of fruits like pears, pineapple, lemons and lime. (I tend to use 1 or 2 high ox veg) I use herbs too. For meals, I use eggs, meat, poultry, fish, beans and lentils (we do 2 meatless meal days a week). Things that don't juice well like squash, broccoli, green beans, and fermented veggies (etc.) For snacks, it usually some cracker (rice) with some dipping thing. Lately it's hummus. Watermelon, kiwi, blueberries or some other fruit. I had to try other things like Tempeh. My daughter likes it, my son won't touch it. She gets that like once a month. It's part of my meatless meals. It's hard to get a good round meal plan. I know, it takes planning and persistence, and sometimes, I have been known to make breakfast for dinner, and dinner for breakfast. We do eat bacon (about 1 time a month) and my sister converted a recipe for waffles (gf/cf) and they are to DIE for. I make a blueberry sauce and I use rice whip. I am the master of the one pot meal. I love my crock pot (as it saves me time!!). I spend about 1-2 hours a month planning meals (and days) to incorporate our new diet. It works well because my husband knows what the day is about. (I got this idea from and her calendar board...) So, I hear ya. But actually, we aren't starving. I've lost over 40 lbs, I haven't been a size 14 in a long time, and I am almost a 12. I keep my revitapops on hand, and I always have some little snack thing that when I feel like driving thru the drive thru, it gets me thru that mental hell of me just wanting someone else to do the cooking. Then I chew on some L-theanine gum, and take a couple of MB12's and I am back on track. I get exhausted thinking about it...but then I grab a coffee (also high ox) with my rice milk..and think, it's the best I have ever felt. Guest guest
I'm going to use 's words " I am using a rotation diet, not THE rotation diet. " -- meaning she rotated these foods over 4 days, it wasn't necessarily what was suggested. (I hope that makes sense) and yes, I use pineapple daily (fresh) because it's got great enzymes in it. And although it's high in salicycates, it's low ox and my kids LOVE it. We eat squash, differnt kinds, but baked with honey and Earth balance butter (soy free). We eat beans. I love beans, black beans, adzuki beans, pinto, cannelli beans and lentils. and I just put some on the meal plan. For variance, and nutrition. I make my own bean dip. We dip rice crackers in it, and I use it for making tacos. I just found an Ivory Teff (La Tortilla Factory) gluten free wrap I can use. It's a little rubbery, and trying to figure out how to make it less rubbery or bake it so that it can serve as a hard shell over a taco roll or something. And I found the same thing - I spend about the same and we waste NOTHING. My food bill even with juicing - is about where it was when I thought I was eating healthy -- and I was, just not healthy for me or us! (Well, the muffins I made that came out like rocks wasted like $20 in ingredients!! ARGH!!) I love my juicer. I own and use my Jack LaLanne Power Elite Juicer (I got it for about $180). It was worth every penny. My dream is to own a Norwalk Juice Press. Don't look it up, and don't look at the price LOL! But if you do, you can see how much I love juicing. I thought I loved my fermenting crock, but I do love my juicer more. The juicer gets way more attention. There is a great list on the LOD website. It's categorized. So it helps with meal planning. It's what I use. I try to use only 1 high ox for each meal. It's not always possible, but I try. laura:) > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > I really need some help, here. Guest guest
How does one know if your child needs to be on a low oxalate/phenol/salicytate diet? Do the food sensitivity blood tests test for that? > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > I really need some help, here. Guest guest
It was Toni that pointed me to the oxalate issue for my son (although I had figured it for my brother) -- as he was always complaining of 'penis' pain and that his belly hurt. Once I got the low ox thing figured out (and it took some time!! because i am also doing Feingold!) -- and then added the right supps (thanks to Toni!), it was like CHRISTMAS again for us... I joined the low oxalate group and I read and read and read...great stuff on there... laura PS. If they have the zinc issue, use the zinc monomethione. WORKS FAST! and it works wonders. My sister said she found a bottle of capsules for like $5. -- However, I found these for $8. and I just put them in my kids pineapple juice or lemonade - they don't even know it's there. Guest guest
My son is almost 4 and I give him one a day. IF he looks like he isn't eating or spitting things out, I give him two. I think after a while you start to notice the signs of when they are def. I also think his ox dumping is stealing his zinc... laura > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > I really need some help, here. Guest guest
Sorry I forgot to answer the last part..ugh, duh. I give zinc and mag together at night and calcium in the morning. If he seems hyper, I give mag about 2 hours later. (and then reduce the dose at night...) I give iron (Flora vital) and B12 in the morning. I do try to space out my vitamins so that the body can uptake what it needs. > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > I really need some help, here. Guest guest
You know, I don't know. I know that Calcium and Magnesium like to be at a certain ratio which is why I don't put them together. I don't want them competing. I guess I haven't gotten that far yet. My biggest concern/goal whatever is getting the most nutrition in so that the body can do what it's supposed to be doing. This is the reason I juice (so much! everyday, most of the time now, 2 times a day) -- Juicing --because of it's neat form-- gets the benefit of having no barriers for uptake. Barriers like fiber. Barriers of quantity. I can juice 4 carrots and 1 apple and have my kid drink it, thereby getting all the vitamins and enzymes it has to offer, without the fiber to inhibit uptake, and the sheer quantity of the brain turning off the hunger que. And...the vitamins in the form the body understands with the enzymes needed to do what the body needs to convert it. Food is truly a neat little package. I had read that juicer drinks (vitamins, minerals, enzymes, amino acids) find it's way into the blood stream within 10 minutes, vs 3 hours, or never... And it has the benefit of being raw. So you aren't cooking all the good stuff out of it. (this is also why I like the idea of fermented foods, sprouted foods, etc.) as the nutrition is increased dramatically. And in my opinion, I think that lack of proper nutrition (in all it's forms) is truly the root cause of all of this. Without it, your body doesn't have the resources to kill a virus, or a bacteria, or the body to a status of alkaline so that things like fungus can't survive. The more I read, the more I am convinced that truly at the heart of dis-ease, is not enough resources in the nutrition department. The body becomes confused and starts killing everything for survival as in the case of allergies. Our bodies WANT to live. Even if it's dysfunctional. Just take a vitamin like B12. It has so many functions and operates on so many levels, that if it isn't available, the symptoms are everything from wetting your pants, acting crazy, autistic like symptoms, falling down due to balance issues. I feel like if you flood the body with nutrition, it heals and gets back in the game. I keep reading things like that over and over and over, whether it be cancer, autism, crohns, -- I mean, you name it...it's just a lack of the right stuff. I mean, yes, you have assaults on the body like mercury, viruses, bacteria, fungus, which causes these other things, but how many recovery stories are really necessary to see the bottom line? I don't have a cold year round --My body obviously fought off the whatever, virus, bacteria, and all I took was some garlic, drank some soup, and kept fluids in me. I recovered. I think Stan Kurtz was absolutely correct when he said that our kids are the most biologically involved. Take diet, remove the offenders, the bodies offense can get back up after a blast - because it's not being flooded on the front line anymore. Take antibiotics - kills everything, good, bad, indifferent, and allows you to do a control, alt, delete. (Same with anti-virals) -- Probiotics, allows you to plant seeds of good bacteria again, without a crowded yeast mess. These are all tools. But the bottom line is - nutrition (vitamins, minerals, enzymes, amino acids) is KEY. I truly believe that. I really believe that is what saved my child. Nutrition is the soldiers, the rest are just ammo. When you run out of soldiers -- what good is ammo? laura > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > I really need some help, here.
