Guest guest
Jane funny you should mention that last night I was satisfied and didn't feel the need to have dinner but around 9 Oclock at night I felt hungry but didn't want a full meal so when i feel like that I often have cheese and crackers or some popcorn or cookies and milk. Eva I was reflecting just the other day that around 9:00 every night while growing up we had "tea time". We had tea and sometimes cheese and crackers (small amounts) or a cookie or two... The tea always had cream and sugar in it. None of us were fat back then. Mom's family had done that forever too and none of them were ever fat either. Strange...> > >> > > How do mothers and others handle being with those, including their children, who may not be hungry when mom is hungry? Do you prepare food later for the child? What if you're a working mom and come home tired, make something for yourself and the family, don't want to force your child to eat, but also don't have the strength to prepare food later on? How do you handle this? Cindi> > >> >>------------------------------------
Guest guest
Tai, your are right. I still find that there are foods that I just can't have in the house. Like I wish I could have cookies but I would eat the whole pack. I guess I could go to the store and buy one when I wanted to have cookies, etc. I am still struggling with evening " munchies " . I am not hungry. Pretty sure it's emotional. I am struggling with this whole " fatty liver " issue too. I may have to really limit fats/sugars, etc. So I will have to figure out how to incorporate that into IE. I know those of you with gluten issues, or diabetics, etc. must have to have some " rules " . Sandy Yeah, the problem is I like the pistachios, but I thought, what would I do without them? Obviously not eat them! Congratulations that you realize you didn't like the flavor of the ice cream that much, that always helps me to stop eating something. It's a wonderful revelation, isn't it? I think I'm going to get rid of the bag of pistachios (even though it was quite expensive) and see where that leads. In the meantime, I'm afraid I'll get hungry (?, if that's possible) later on and those cookies hanging in my refrigerator are sounding pretty good to me. Maybe they're the next to go, I'll let you know. :-) Tai To: IntuitiveEating_Support Sent: Sunday, August 14, 2011 2:31 PMSubject: Re: Re: Question about timing...bedtime snacks Jane funny you should mention that last night I was satisfied and didn't feel the need to have dinner but around 9 Oclock at night I felt hungry but didn't want a full meal so when i feel like that I often have cheese and crackers or some popcorn or cookies and milk. Guest guest
The problem I'm having with this, Sandy, is that I've heard some who promote the IE concept say that it is acceptable to surround myself with the marked food. Now I'm conflicted. :-) Should I throw the pistachios out, or should I not? thinking about them, I think I will throw them out and see what happens. :-) It's an experiment. lol. Guest guest
Abby, after Sandy spoke to me I double thought getting rid of them. hmmm I wonder what would happen if I did not get rid of them. What a dilemma! :-) ok maybe I"ll keep them. It is interesting that now I am so full and have been since I ate another load of them a few hours ago. I just wonder what makes me tick, the body tick, the mind tick, etc. Thanks. Guest guest
Tai, I have to experiment too. Certain foods I bring in I just can't seem to stop eating until they are gone. Gillian said to me to bring those foods in " when I feel it is time, safe " . So far with most of them I have not reached that point. As with chocolate candy, I may have moved beyond that? but I have times when I haven't. I guess it has gotten better because I used to buy 2(BOGO) and eat both all at once. Last time I ate one and it didn't taste as good and the other one sat on the counter for 3 days. I have a handful of walnuts daily or almonds. Both are satisfying and curb my hunger. They are good if I know it is going to be too long before mt next meal. I know they are still full of calories(diet mentality?) but are healthy too, and I love them. As far as cake or the like I am not ready to have that in the house. When I first started this journey, I ate all the ice cream I wanted and finally got to the point where I didn't really care for it. It took my throwing out some until I got to that point. But this week Ben and Jerry's was BOGO and I couldn't resist. After eating some I discovered I did not care for it at all? I was really disappointed as I thought B & J would be out of this world. Good lesson. All you can do is experiment I guess.
