Guest guest
thanks, Jane, I needed that experience. I do agree we are all different and at different levels of understanding and coping. Yesterday was hard, because I was kind-of nervous with my acquaintance friend and trying to figure out what to get at the unknown restaurant and find a high chair for my toddler etc., etc. My friend never stopped talking for a moment and I was finding it very hard to notice my body sensations. I was relieved to notice I was getting those first niggles of hunger as we arrived, but then I was all distracted. I had maybe 1/3 of the panini sandwich (which was on sandwich-sized bread), a few bites of bitter green salad, about a slice pulled off a chunk of light bakery wheat bread, and a few bites of a dry vegan pumpkin bread slice. After I realized I was not only not particularly enjoying it, but couldn't detect any signs of hunger, I ate 3-4 more nibbles. I never had any signs of overfullness and was very hungry a few hours later. But it really varies what I need and I think it's that way for everyone. Jane > > > >Â > >Today in an attempt to reduce the stress in my life a bit, I drove to a town an hour away, through gorgeous scenery, to visit an acquaintance who recently moved to senior housing there. I took her to lunch at a place we'd both heard rave reviews about. I ordered a sandwich, thinking I would split it with my toddler, and then it turned out to have cheese melted all over it and she's lactose intolerant. So I had to order something else for her and was left with SO MUCH compared to what I've been eating. I ate a little of everything, but truthfully, nothing was that great. It wasn't bad... Anyway, I realized I wasn't truly hungry anymore and didn't think it would keep well, and besides, why take something home for later when I wasn't that thrilled with it the first go-round? I had a mild stress because of the high cost of lunch and "wasting" food, but let it go and left. I can't recall doing that at a restaurant before and I guess that's progress. > Can't say it felt good, exactly...
