Guest guest
You asked if anyone else finds it difficult to exercise "mindful eating"? (my words) Yup. Me for one. I'm tired of trying. To: IntuitiveEating_Support Sent: Monday, July 18, 2011 5:51 PMSubject: Today's challenge - the diet mentaility and IE Hey everyone - I'm still pretty new at IE and it feels a little weird just to talk about food. But here goes.I'm trying to negotiate a medical mandate of a low-sodium diet with IE. At lunch, I realized that I forgot bread for a sandwich so I went over to 's and bought a crispy chicken sandwich (the lowest sodium food item on the menu, FYI). I felt like I had a grenade in my mouth: mindfully and slowly ate it yet realized that it's high in sodium. Oh my god! This is ridiculous! To give such power to a chicken sandwich. I ended up not really enjoying what I had mindfully ate. Then, as I was leaving work, I had an incredible craving for some Indian food for dinner. Now the particular restaurant the I love uses a salt lick per dish. I remained mindful: felt the desire, the obsession, checked in to see if I really wanted it, could live without it. I didn't get it but opted for something a little more healthy but my God! Mindfulness, in my case, intensifies the struggle. Anyone else have these kinds of struggles? Guest guest
Tai, so why not throw in the towel on this one IE suggestion? You are probably rebelling for a dang good reason! If you push to accomplish this you won't probably get the results you want (now) so consider letting it lie and opt to try out any other IE suggestion that appeals to you. I thought of IE as a 'feast' which I couldn't 'eat' in ONE BITE! Nibbling worked and was much more enjoyable too. This is YOUR IE journey, set your own course, even if its just resting awhile until you find YOUR way. BEST to you, Katcha IEing since March 2007 > > You asked if anyone else finds it difficult to exercise " mindful eating " ? (my words) > Â > Yup. Me for one.
