Guest guest
I wonder how this scenario would work, Tilley. I imagine it for myself as well. Let's say we had a lot of food available, not just a portion. How much would it take to be "enough"? How many times would we go back to the banquet bowl until we were satisfied? I ate what i wanted before (no original portions that I brought for myself, I had food in the refrigerator and could go back), and at first I thought I was satisfied, but wound up eating more, now I'm quite full but I wonder how much is enough and for how long? They say if you wait 20 minutes, that is the time it takes for the brain to register that you're full. My inclination is ALWAYS to eat ALL of whatever it is. I think I serve myself (or bring to work) reasonable portions, so I don't usually end up feeling overfull, but it's still pretty external. In the past several weeks, I've noticed that I am staying hungry, and then it all catches up about a half hour later, so that probably means I need to really slow down..... Tilley > > > >Â > >Today in an attempt to reduce the stress in my life a bit, I drove to a town an hour away, through gorgeous scenery, to visit an acquaintance who recently moved to senior housing there. I took her to lunch at a place we'd both heard rave reviews about. I ordered a sandwich, thinking I would split it with my toddler, and then it turned out to have cheese melted all over it and she's lactose intolerant. So I had to order something else for her and was left with SO MUCH compared to what I've been eating. I ate a little of everything, but truthfully, nothing was that great. It wasn't bad... Anyway, I realized I wasn't truly hungry anymore and didn't think it would keep well, and besides, why take something home for later when I wasn't that thrilled with it the first go-round? I had a mild stress because of the high cost of lunch and "wasting" food, but let it go and left. I can't recall doing that at a restaurant before and I guess that's progress. > Can't say it felt good, exactly...
