Guest guest
Rae, Enbrel started working for me right away. Not everyone gets immediate relief, so don't despair if it doesn't. I've been on Enbrel for 6 years and haven't given myself an injection yet. I could if I had to, but my husband is more than willing to do it for me and I'm more than willing to let him LOL! Guest guest
Hi Rae,.....I'm so glad you made your appointment, and you had a good visit. I'm sorry to hear that you have to go off the MTX, but there are other drugs out there. I have never been on the Plaquenil, or Enbrel so I can't be of much help there. I have heard that the Plaquenil does take awhile before it starts working. I don't think it takes to long for the Enbrel to start working though. I know when I first started Humira, after the first shot, I felt a big difference. I take Humira, and at first I was scared to death. I have always hated shots, who don't. At first, my husband gave them to me, so it wasn't too bad. Then he had to go out on the road full time, so I had to be responsible giving myself the shot:( I was so scared, but after a few times, it wasn't so bad. I'm glad that you have family to help you, and that's great your daughter is going to nurse school:) Your set girl!! Just give it time, it will work out, and in know time you will be a pro. I'm glad to hear that you are weaning off the Prednisone, that is good news. Rae,....glad that your starting your Enbrel:) Is it the pre-mixed? I have heard good results from many that's been on Enbrel. You will be nervous of course when you go to the doctor, but just don't let it overwhelm you. It's not so bad, and it's worth it. If I can do it, anyone can. Guest guest
It has just come out, and it's pre-mixed already in the syringe. The humira is like that also. Some, say it's burns like the humira, and the needles are dull, so I don't know about that. You can find out from the other Enbrel users all about the pros and cons to Enbrel. You have the one that you have to mix yourself. They will teach you how to do it when you go to the doctor. The Humira isn't bad at all. You do have to get use to it. It does burn a little, but I find that injecting it slow is not bad at all. We have a lot of Enbrel users here, and they can really make you feel easy, so don't worry. hugs, Tawny > > > WOW... i had my appointment today and i was so excited, shoewed > up > > an hour early.. *i waited patiently* ha ha ha > > > well, anyway... this dr. roberts wa great... he spent over an > hour > > with me... wanted to know everything and when and all.... > > > he feels the best thing for me to do now that the mtrx has > caused > > me liver problems... i should start taking plaquenil and > enbrel... i > > started the plaquenil tonight and i had my TB test today and as > soon > > as that is read and negative... i can start on the enbrel.... i > am > > afraid to give MYSELF the shots... my husband said he can learn > and > > my youngest daughter *going to school for RN degree* can give > them to > > me... and maybe one day i will have nerve enough to give them my > > self... ) > > > > > > he siad he wants me down to 7 1/2 mgs of prednisone... i have > been > > taking anywhere from 5 to 20.... so i will start cutting the 5's > in > > half and sart taking 7 1/2... > > > i forgot to ask how long does it take enbrel to start making > you > > feel better?? he told me that plaquenil takes about 6-8 weeks > for > > some relief and it does not really do too much... but any help is > > welcomed... > > > > > > i am so excited to hopefully start feeling better... soon... > > > > > > rae, in napa, ca > > > > > > > > > > > >

Glad you had a good appointment and i hope your new meds help. a On Tue, 25 Jan 2005 21:16:49 -0800, Rae Sandberg <Raes_Yorkies@...> wrote: > WOW... i had my appointment today and i was so excited, shoewed up an hour > early.. *i waited patiently* ha ha ha > well, anyway... this dr. roberts wa great... he spent over an hour with > me... wanted to know everything and when and all.... > he feels the best thing for me to do now that the mtrx has caused me liver > problems... i should start taking plaquenil and enbrel... i started the > plaquenil tonight and i had my TB test today and as soon as that is read and > negative... i can start on the enbrel.... i am afraid to give MYSELF the > shots... my husband said he can learn and my youngest daughter *going to > school for RN degree* can give them to me... and maybe one day i will have > nerve enough to give them my self... ) > > he siad he wants me down to 7 1/2 mgs of prednisone... i have been taking > anywhere from 5 to 20.... so i will start cutting the 5's in half and sart > taking 7 1/2... > i forgot to ask how long does it take enbrel to start making you feel > better?? he told me that plaquenil takes about 6-8 weeks for some relief > and it does not really do too much... but any help is welcomed... > > i am so excited to hopefully start feeling better... soon... > > rae, in napa, ca > > > >
