As you know, my mom has lung cancer...has had it for the last two years. While still managing quite well, this sounds so very hopeful. I have printed your post and plan on showing it to her later. I will get copies of articles in several papers locally. I received an e-mail from UM(university of miami) and am waiting for a reply,even though I don't think that we qualify,but I would drop out of hopine in a minute. You can contact Dr Raez's office and you can contact the University of miami/Sylvester Comprehensiv Cancer center and they will give you all the particulars. I hope and pray the next few days will focus on the celebration of Nick's life and that God will " hold you in his hands " will you go thru the process of greiving for your partner. Best wishes Betty Younger brother in KY. age-62 10/01 CC; resection; TMN stage: pT3N2MX (Stage III) 5FU/Lev-6 months 9/03 PET showed recurrent met (left para-aortic malignant lymph nodes); Xeloda/Oxiplatin infusions and 25 radiation treatments Hospitalized 2/04--8 days severe hand/foot syndrome & diahrrea- 30 lb weight loss; colonscopy-clear. Infection. Finished treatment after hospitalization. On cancer Vacation @ present; Waiting one month before another PET May 10 - PET showed NED June 30 - next scheduled PET scan July 2 - NO EVIDENCE OF DISEASE PRAISE THE LORD! I wish that there was something more that I could say or do, but you both have always been so much better with your kind words than I. Your faith, kindness and suggestions have been such an inspiration to me and I am certain to everyone else here. Your (and Nick's) strength and courage have always been an inspiration to me. The love you two shared was very evident and you both so readily shared it with those of us in need here on this site.
