Hi, Adelle. Welcome and glad you could join us. Your story sounds a lot like many of us. Let me ask you if you are doing IE and have you read the book? It has a new approach to living life, not just eating/weight. There are other good books too, but I think starting with Intuitive Eating by Tribole and Elyse Resch. Keep posting and reading the posts here. You will find this group very supportive and helpful. Sandy

I am thirty years old and have had a bad relationship with food; when I was younger I was taught that being skinny was important. I have yo-yo dieted for years and am trying to find a healthy relationship with food. Recently I have gained a lot of weight because I have been stressed out and have been eating junk food every night until I am uncomfortable. My clothes are getting too small for me but that does not stop me from going home every day and eating junk food. I have a horrible self image and do not feel attractive.I am basically taking it one day at a time and am trying to make healy food choices at every meal and trying to stay away from sweet food.

It is really nice to know that other people went through what I am going through. Where I work a lot of people are going on diets and they are loosing weight; I am feeling terrible because I am gaining.

Hi Adelle,

I SO know the way it feels to feel unattractive, knowing that your clothes are getting tighter, and eating anyway. That's probably anyone's story who has ever gained after dieting, but it's definitely my story - over and over again! Welcome! I hope you find relief through IE. I know I have so far.

I am sure that it will get better, it will just take time and working out a healthy relationship with diet and exercise.

Thanks! I ordered the book off of amazon and should get it in a couple of days. Right now I am trying hard to eat healthy foods and trying to stay busy when I get the urge to sit down and eat the sweet, sugery food that I crave. I am walking to work every day and am trying to do weights three times a week. I have a wedding to go to in Sept and am trying to fit into a dress that I bought a couple of months ago but no longer fit into. I have not been able to get to a computer since I joined this group, but reading the post that people have sent is a big relief for me, knowing that I am not alone in feeling this way about food.

Welcome, Adelle! Join the group that allows us to cope with our eating in a rational way, without force and by understanding our own body mechanism and needs. I know how you feel -- I felt that way most of my life until I found IE. The recommended book on IE is helpful, you will find that the posts are helpful also. I first started IE a few years ago after I dieted my way down and started gaining the weight again because I could not keep a diet. I am now learning to eat as I want, not sure if it's normal, but my goal is to satisfy myself without hurting myself. That means that I stop eating when I'm full. For me right now I am trying to stay away from animal food products, including cheese and meat. Somewhat hard for me, but there are many foods to enjoy that are not meat or cheese. I am enjoying fresh fruit and salads, and am not forbidding myself anything. I'm staying away from animal foods because I don't think it helps my digestion to eat

them, but everyone is different here, and we're all at different stages.

Welcome, and enjoy the list! Tai
