Guest guest
Thanks everyone for the support. For me it came down to the fact that if I kept either the books or the scale, I still had access to it. At this point, if I want something to do with dieting, I would have to physically go spend money on it, and I'm not doing that anymore. Amy, Fantastic! I never thought of all that but it sure would settle a lot of things. Make it definite, final, diets begone forever and ever. Thanks for sharing. It was great and even made ME feel better. Sandy I had to chuckle when I read all these posts regarding getting rid of diet books. I actually did burn mine in a huge bonfire, along with beating the crap out of my scale with a hammer. I took stickers and wrote all the things I had let the scale say to me for so many years, stuck them all over the scale... And beat it to pieces. It felt really good! Oh, and I ate really good s'mores that I made from the bonfire! :-)

Guest guest
Amy, you are a true inspiration. lol! The thing is, I already throw one scale in the garbage, but I bought another one. Guest guest
Amy, I got rid of the scale twice. I feel free, even though I constantly struggle with eating, or at least my thoughts about eating. I am no longer interested in weighing myself. Yes, decisions and thoughts about food must be made daily. Guest guest
In order to get rid of the diet books, you have to be convinced that DIETS DON'T WORK. Good for you, taking them to used book store. Sandy Boy, I could have written this Today is day 3 for me, and I finally put all my diet books into a BIG box. It stunned me because I realized that I own literally every diet book ever written (no, I'm not kidding!). Tomorrow I'll take them to a local used book store. I almost feel like I should just burn them so others don't fall into the same dangerous diet trap that I fell into for 20 years. O.k., this is my first day at Intuitive eating. I eat when hungry and stopped when full. I ate moderate amounts of all kinds of things including croissant, burger, chips, carrots, blueberries and cheese. I made a great potato salad with new potatoes and red onions. I don't feel stuff and I don't feel hungry. I am quite happy with myself, but terrified of the scale. Guest guest
sumami, I used to weigh myself like 6 times a day to see when and if the scale went down. I would be so disappointed if after I 'went to the bathroom' or ate nothing, the scale would go up! LOL! No more. Guest guest
I've gotten rid of at least 4 scales. Not at the same time. The only one to get angry with me is me.
