In order to get rid of the diet books, you have to be convinced that DIETS DON'T WORK. TaiTo: "IntuitiveEating_Support " <IntuitiveEating_Support >Sent: Tuesday, August 2, 2011 5:23 PMSubject: Re: principle number 1 - get rid of the diet mentality and the diet books.

Good for you, taking them to used book store. Sandy

Boy, I could have written this :) Today is day 3 for me, and I finally put all my diet books into a BIG box. It stunned me because I realized that I own literally every diet book ever written (no, I'm not kidding!). Tomorrow I'll take them to a local used book store. I almost feel like I should just burn them so others don't fall into the same dangerous diet trap that I fell into for 20 years.

O.k., this is my first day at Intuitive eating. I eat when hungry and stopped when full. I ate moderate amounts of all kinds of things including croissant, burger, chips, carrots, blueberries and cheese. I made a great potato salad with new potatoes and red onions. I don't feel stuff and I don't feel hungry.

I am quite happy with myself, but terrified of the scale. Now, in the book I have, Intuitive eating by Tribole, the principle number 1 says to get rid of the diet mentality. So, I am certainly ready and willing to do so, but I have all THOSE books, diet books, in my closet, and I really don't want to get rid of them, most of them are recipe books too and it is just so heartbreaking to me to get rid of them. Maybe I should try to sell them?

How did you handle that one?Maybe I could get rid of one a week?Donate them? Burn them? I had no trouble to rid the house of the alcohol when I stopped drinking, now, how can't I just throw those books?Any hints?

Nat
