Kate my 6 year old does the same thing. Will not sit. I think it's helps with added pressure. We are very high on the leaky gut testing

my son has this problem as well. He only poops on the toilet if we let him perch on it. Like stand on the seat and then squat down. He's not a real bad gi kid other than chronic constipation. when we keep up with the fiber and he's going regularly after a while he will start to sit, but if we let up then he starts to perch again.. I think it's due to constipation and the strain it puts on there lower stomach and bowels.

I've read about this before. I have a 3 year old sister in law (yes, you read that right!). with ASD symptoms and she will not sit to poop, either. She brings her mom a diaper then she'll stand someplace quiet to go. She pees on the toilet no problem. I believe its called "posturing" and it's a very good indication of GI issues. (If there's inflammation, it might hurt to sit and strain). It can also be difficult for kids to poop if their feet can't touch the floor. Try putting a stool under his feet so he feels steady and stable. hth-Tammy

Hi All,

My son doesn't sit down for poop even in his diapers. He always want to lie on his stomach on the floor and pass motion. I have tried to change but he doesn't listen.

He wants to kneel on the couch with his legs on the floor but doesn't want to sit.

Does this mean anything? What should I do?
