Guest guest
Welcome Donna. We are a very diverse group, with our ages ranging from teens on up. I am 45 and also have both RA (maybe) and Fibro. My FM problems have been cut in half since being on Zoloft and trazadone. I also take Enbrel, voltaren and vicodan for the RA. There isn't one person here that doesn't understand your fears. You will get a very good education here, and that will help with the fear. Collectively we have been on every RA medicine, and can help ease your fears about side effects and what to expect. Ask as many questions as you want. A good place to start is our website that Judy has so kindly made for us. http://www.rasupport.webprovider.com/ The link is at the bottom of each message, so don't worry if you loose it. What meds are you currently taking? On thing that is really important is to get copies of all your tests. Keeping records of your lab work and other tests will help you to keep track of what is happening to you. We can explain what the tests mean. We have a lot of very helpful and understanding people here. a ----- Original Message ----- From: <donnam26@...> < egroups> Sent: Wednesday, April 05, 2000 6:37 PM Subject: [ ] New here > Hi everyone. Guest guest
Donna, Of course you are scared and you should be - you are allowed to be normal. We are all scared at times because these diseases keep taking twists and turns on us. This is a great group and you will find the support, encouragement and compassion that we all need when we are dealing with this. I am 49 years old and have had RA since I was 18 years old. It would come and go for many years - good days and bad days. Once the bad days were continuous, it created more problems for me and we became more aggressive with the treatment. Currently, I take Enbrel and Gold injections. I feel much better but it has not gone away and some of the pain is still there. I am glad you found our group. If you have any questions, someone in the group may be able to help you or a will find information on the web. You are not alone with this. We are all here to help you through the ups and downs and we do understand. Pat
Guest guest
Hi, I'm new here, just recently diagnosed but no surprise due to the pain I've been having for a few years. I'm not really sure what to do next regarding dealing/treating this disease. I've begun to research it a little, and plan to do more research when I can find the time. I work fulltime, go to school part time, and volunteer for a hepatitis C organization (I had hep c, too & responded to the treatment 4 years ago). I'm 44 and am pissed that I'm slowing down due to the pain. I take a multi vitamin, 1000mg. fish oil twice a day, 2 ibuprofen as an anti-inflammatory, and a glucosomine each day. What is the basic RA 101 info I need to know in order to be proactive in my treatment/ management? I appreciate any help.
Guest guest
I'm sorry to hear about your diagnosis of Non-Hodgkin's. You mention that "untreated" celiacs are at high risk for NHD. As I understand it, people with any autoimmune disease (of which there are many) are at increased risk. Make sure your doctor is aware that if someone has one autoimmune disease, he or she is more likely to develop another, especially when under stress. Therefore, any unexplained symptoms could be due to another undiagnosed autoimmune disease, rather than to the NHD or CD. Best wishes. H. At least now I know the reason for a lifetime of illness. Seems that "untreated" celiacs are at high risk for NHL. I'll mostly be reading. Need the support right now. As for the diet, I'm staying away from sugar until my immune and digestive system improves. Take care all. Debbie
