Judy, the restaurants that serve simple breakfast-type meals (eggs and so forth) close up around 3 PM around here and so I'll just have to brace up to go into a popular diner that sometimes gives me dirty looks if I'm by myself during dinner time. Plus I don't like the manager and the waitresses are often very sullen, not an inviting place to go in by myself, although I do. oh well. Then of course, there's always Denny's that I could try for simple eggs. I forgot about that. And, now that I"m thinking about it, they have an over-55 menu.

Tai, it sounds like you had a good day overall -- the Chinese buffet can be tricky, but you caught the overthinking trap that can make our lives harder, so good for you. In this area there are a lot of small cafes in strip malls that are only open for breakfast and lunch and many of them are quite good, serving good, simple food in reasonable portions. "I didn't want fast food, although I could have had that. I really need to find a restaurant that will serve a simple meal.">

I haven't and it's the only way I will eat Brussels sprouts which now I can't eat unless boiled first. Bummer But I will try that! Sounds relish! If anyone else has something to try, I'm all ears! Thanks!Patti

Patti -

Have you tried roasting cauliflower? Cut it into florets, mix with some olive oil, salt and pepper and roast in a 450 oven for about 1/2 hour. Mix around halfway through.

It makes it sweet and delicious. That's how I prepare most of my vegetables.

Unfortunately, they frequently suck. So I try to remember who has good ones and that's the only time I order them. I figure there is limited space in my gullet so why waste it on ick.

Cauliflower is a veggie I can have without suffering so I'm trying to find that ultimate cauliflower recipe. I'm open to suggestions. Please don't tell me to mash it like potatoes. I think that's dreadful. I like aloo gobi because it takes away the cabbagey flavor.

I love roasted veggies! I toss in a little honey and lemon (along with olive oil, salt and pepper), and it is great.

I think the diet police has kicked in today -- but I ate what I ate anyway. I told myself I should not be eating everything I was eating. Oh well. I ate it anyway. At least I liked what I ate. I know I'm not going to lose weight this way, in fact my body feels fatter and larger lately, but I'm not letting that drive me into overguilt mode. Can't diet. So I just keep doing the best I can. I'm making vegetable soup today. I hope I like it, I don't have a recipe I stick to. I'm trying to cut down on salt, but it's not working that well, although I am trying to avoid foods with high sodium content (I'm beginning to read labels). What I do with most soups is to puree the veggies after I cook the soup and put the puree back in the soup, which makes it

taste thicker. As I said, I hope the soup comes out good. Oh, and one reason I'm making the soup is because I'm working on eating more fruits and veggies. Don't know how this will work out.

I am so happy for you I want to hug you. You are going over the bumpy part, but you are getting it and suddenly it will be easier. I had a jump start with this medication which pushes me to listen to my gut or feel like crap later but once I started listening, it made a difference! It's not just what my mouth wants but also what my stomach wants! Yes, I'm shrinking a little, but it's about making peace with food and feeling good in my own skin. Patti
