Thanks again, Sandy. I agree that times and flavors change our perception of things. TaiTo: IntuitiveEating_Support Sent: Monday, August 15, 2011 8:12 PMSubject: Re: Re: Question about timing...bedtime snacks... M & M's

Tai, Glad you enjoyed it. Sandy

Sandy, today I thought about you at lunch. Because I was so hungry and simply had to eat and went to a Chinese buffet. I loaded up with only one plate full, and decided I did not want any more. But then came the ice cream. And it was soooo delicious. I enjoyed every mouthful. :-) Tai

sanamu. great response and it has given me a lot to think about. First of all I too notice that with some foods I do not have that same urgency and eat less. I too often feel like I can't trust myself and get out of control around certain foods. I like your comment about that you will not become afraid of food or let them become forbidden. And that you don't want to live your life afraid of food or afraid of yourself around food. Thanks for sharing. Sandy

I haven't given in to the notion of throwing out my M & M's even though I have secretly tried to swear off them from time-to-time in spite of believing that would only make matters worse. I noticed today that my stash is getting kind of low and I will go out and buy another big bag. I'm eating them less often and with less of a sense of urgency; but I do eat them even though I wish I wouldn't....

One of my long-term battles has been with the belief that I'm out of control or can't trust myself around certain foods - and so I'm keeping these stinking M & M's stocked until I can finally lay that to rest.

Sometimes they're great and I eat only some; sometimes they're not so great and I eat a bunch anyway because I'm rebelling. But I will not let myself become afaid of them or move them to forbidden. I do not want to live my life afraid of food - or afraid of myself around food. Good luck with those pistachios.
