another very triggering film: Flowers In The Attic

This one is an older film, from 1987: " Flowers In The Attic " .

Its about an over-the-top personality-disordered family. The nada is after a

huge inheritance, but she won't get it if she has children (her dying fada is

also mentally ill; its implied that he feels sexually possessive of his

daughter).

Widowed, destitute nada returns to her family home and tells her four children

they have to hide up in the attic, hide themselves from grand-fada for just a

little while, but that when grand-fada dies, they'll all be rich and happy.

Nada lives downstairs in luxury with her parents, while her children are

imprisoned in the attic for over 3 years.

Creepy grand-nada is openly hostile and sadistically abusive to the kids; she

hates them because they are the product of incest. Their dad was actually their

half-uncle. For most of the film we believe grand-nada is main villain, but as

the story progresses we discover that its actually nada who is equally insane

and complicit, its just that her motives and behaviors are covert; she uses

classic nada behaviors when her kids confront her about their mistreatment.

At first the children are at least fed, but eventually nada conspires with

grandnada to kill her own children by starving them to death in the attic. When

they don't die fast enough, nada starts adding arsenic to their food.

Eventually, three of the 4 kids manage to escape, but the youngest boy dies.

I could only watch parts of this film, I found it so triggering.

So, just a head's up. Not a good film for KOs, in my opinion.
